Homepages combines maps and houses for sale

by on October 21, 2005

Gary Price has been finding some cool stuff lately. He links us to HomePages, which is a new service that takes local home sale listings and puts it on an Flash-based map/aerial photo.

All I see is Flash, not AJAX. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Ugh, that's terrible! It barely works with the mouse control and looks like crap. Why didn't they just use something that looks good like Google Maps instead? This is even worse than Virtual Earth!
  • I agree with the other two comments - this is just flash and not Ajax. If you want to see this app idea running an Ajax app with housing links then look at www.ononemap.com Best example of an API mashup in this genre.

  • Sorry, I messed up. Thanks.

This site uses Google Earth / Google Maps well to integrate Real Estate listings: http://homes.point2.com. Good example here: http://homes.point2.com/United_States/Georgia.aspx.

It doesn't matter that it's not AJAX, it's just a crappy implementation in Flash.

Don't know why it has to be pointed out if it's AJAX or not, that just seems kinda weird ...
  • Yeah yeah yeah, brag all you want about it being flash and not ajax. You at least have decent map material to choose from. :)
