#70: The Search Engine Experiment

by on November 20, 2005

Think your search engine is the most relevant?

Well, Digg today links to the search engine experiment. You enter a search term, it makes you choose which one is most relevant. Very interesting results. Thanks to Jason Alexandrian for emailing this to me.

  • Same thing I received, Daniel.
  • Every time I try it just says "One of the search engines isn't playing ball right now please wait a while, then try again."
  • MSN won for some of my typical searches. But I don't like that it is spitting out only 3 results for each. The fact is the search engines give you 10 results and even the people that only do one word searches and never click for a second page still see those 10 results. Sure, you'd like the absolute most relevant search to be in the top 3, but if a search engine generally gets it in the top 10, that's fine for me.
  • Google won on the search for my name. :-)

    Not true..

I had google won 3 times.
  • How interesting, MSN wins just about every time in my testing; I had expected it to be Google.
