Pictures of BillG getting his Xbox

by on November 22, 2005

Val has pictures of Bill Gates picking up his Xbox (scroll through his photos) at the local Best Buy. I didn’t go. I leave on Wednesday for Europe and I’m WAY behind — the email lists here were going nuts about how many people were waiting in line to get theirs. Anyway, yes, I’m still at work editing videos and answering emails. 163 emails to go. Not quite as fun as playing with a new Xbox.

  • Pressure son mom incest in your mouth and bucked. She said.
  • This photo, which was made at BestBuy store, not only shows Bill Gates purchasing his own X-Box 360, but you can see him balding on the top of his head!

I think it is not fair that the world's richest man devours plastic surgeons of their living. If you are wealthy, it is your duty to the society to spend lavishly. How else can the ordinary people earn enough to be able to buy the goods that factories owned by the riches are producing?

I recommend Mr. Gates to consult Silvio Berlusconi, media tsar, conman and far-right-wing prime minister of Italy on issues of surgical hair replacement.

November 22nd 2005 - 10am - Well, after 55 hours of pain, cold, and suffering, we have got our Xbox 360 and successfully smashed it outside Best Buy minutes later, with a large sledgehammer in front of a few Xbox Fanboys who just bought brand new 360s. Short video clip will be posted tomorrow (23rd) and the longer documentary style one will be posted with the next few days. For now, enjoy these pictures!

Get the memeorandom headline stirred up: Gates Best Buy PR Stunt - Bloggers Won't Stand For It

Could somebody with a camera document such an event the next time?

"publicity stunt!!!! he could get his delivered!"

    Never!!!
  • Y'know. I'm starting to think that a lot of those people were plants at the Bellevue Best Buy. I know MS PR tipped the press that Bill Gates would be there. Weird, there were no press at the Best Buy in Seattle and only about 20 people outside waiting. Only 6 at Target. Looks like a pretty lame PR stunt. Manufactured enthusiasm sucks.

XBox looks cool. The event looks fun. But why is the MSN Spaces slideshow so godawful, reloading the page for every image like it was 2003? They should put this on flickr.
  • Okay... perface, this isn't meant to be a shameless plug.. although, even though it might seem like it (well, maybe it is... but I'd like to think of it as a bit of a public service annoucement to help future viewers of the photos)

I have to agree with Vale. That UI was a bit clunky for sharing photos -- having no thumbnails view is a bit of a pain. But then again, I'm biased being a founder from BubbleShare.

I've already asked her to put the photo up on our site... and I'll even volenteer to put it up within one of our voice caption enbabled albums. But I don't want to do anything without the authors permission for obvious reasons.

(Hey Val: if you're reading this, you can INSTANTLY share the pictures WITHOUT registering... so come on by and don't be shy ;).

The half of them staying in lines were there just because of selling that box immediately on eBay...
  • he gave it to the first guy in line, the guy who camped out at the Bellevue Best Buy since FRIDAY. 79 hours. Who shall forever be known as "The Biggest Loser".

Yeah, most all my Xbox buddies stayed away, funny thing is just got back from a Xbox 360 event from one of the lucky guys, total consensus was shrug, good grpahics, but so, still kinda a letdown. Media Centerish functionaly still doesn't even come close to modded XBMC. Weird letdown for rabid fans like that, but a hard crowd to please. Just trying to finger the malaise, bodes not well -- just feeling the pulse. Still tho COD2, wowza.

But, it be, now clear, that Peter Moore blew it with the Worldwide Launch Strategy slash faux glitzy Hollywood giveaways, I just knew he would -- SEGA Dreamcasting the Xbox. You have to hit ground running, full in each market, not divide in three. Now at least 50% of our group if not more, will wait, if even bothering. Whereas ALL would have bought had there been units.

Best place to get 360s? Japan. :)
  • That website is crap, btw. It took 20 secs to load with nothing but a big Loading sign. Not a great UI. Thrilling audiences hasn't quite caught up with the MSN Spaces folks. Keep it simple, I don't need WMP for a few photos.
  • I think most of us stayed away because we knew we didn't have a prayer. Folks were reporting from lines locally and they said at 2 p.m. that we shouldn't even bother cause there's no hope.

Well that was a dud. Halo 2 was monumental, I guess the worldwide shipping plan and shortages kept lots away. Good pickup, but it didn't even come close to the Halo 2 frenzy, just based on raw perception, same Walmart both times, at least seemingly 3x for Halo 2, quick flipped over to Best Buy, but a trickle. Varies by region I guess. But at least Norm Edwards got his due. ;)
  • No Way! Yes Way! Ok that is pretty cool. I mean the bit about Bill Gates, not you still being stuck at work.
