ZapTXT sends RSS to your phone via SMS

I just heard about ZapTXT (a Microsoft employee dropped by the cafeteria where I’m sitting and told me about it). It lets you point it at a specific RSS feed and it will send you an SMS. Gotta try that out, but my cell phone already has RSS on it, so not sure what the utility is. They give a few scenarios that sound interesting, though.

    Robert, I get the R|Mail for RSS. Both SMS/SMTP work on the same RFC. its the same.

    long read, but man over the past few days (especially since the AOL-Google thing happened), I have a feeling that MS is being too complacent in a lot of areas…and things are looking bleak ahead…

    some of the highlights:

    - eventually ViiV boxes will be shipped without any MS OS

    - the “close” relationship of Jobs and Otellini…

    - Google and Intel developing stronger ties…

    hmmm…any comments? u guys got things in control? i guess, we’ll see what’s up after CES and MacWorld are over…don’t take it the wrong way; I’m a well-wisher :)

    Yes, if you have RSS on your cell, our service may be redundant. On the other hand, we have features such as only receiving alerts during certain times of the day and filtering by keywords that might improve the user experience.

    We’re also connecting to some enterprise apps – salesforce.com right now – that have API based access rather than RSS.
