Free astronomy book

The reaction to my post, last night, about the Celestron device has been interesting. One email I got was from Fraser Cain who is the publisher on Universe Today, a free 407-page skywatching ebook (blog here, ebook download here). It has an entry for what to see in the night sky for every night this year (saves you $400 on the Celestron gadget, although the gadget is a whole lot more fun). That’s cool!

  • Or you could always go and download a copy of the free open source desktop planetarium program Stellarium.

    http://stellarium.org

Tell it where you are and it shows you what you should be able to see. It even has fast forward and rewind so you can see what the sky will look like whenever you like. And it will superimpose constellation lines and/or art on the sky. Check it out!
  • I saw on the latest Universe Today email that they are looking for people to host mirror sites because there have been so many downloads.
