Lots of surprises at MacWorld

It’s been a day of surprises at MacWorld.

First, Dave Winer, at breakfast, told Patrick “this is your lucky day, I’m buying you a Mac.” Wow. Patrick is in heaven. We’ll do a podcast later. Sort of a Mac vs. Tablet PC kind of debate. Mine is black. His is white. We’re dressed the same. The Channel 9 guy has been visiting MacWorld.

Second, Shel Israel called me during lunch and said “our book is in stock at Amazon.” Awesome, you can buy your copy now. Go, we’ll wait. :-)

Third, Phillip Torrone called me up and said “let’s hang out.” Which we’re doing at the Metreon right now. All four of us are sharing his EVDO link.

    WWBD? Is that What Would Bill Do or What Would Ballmer Do? I can see Ballmer throwing it out the window and making him “fetch”… Bill, I’m not so sure. I imagine he’d do something deviously clever – like spilling a coke on it.

    If I ship you my 2-week-old PowerBook G4, will you send Patrick up to Steve Jobs and have him ask if Apple will replace it with the new Intel-based one they just smited me with?

    Robert — a little confused by the need to share EVDO at Metreon. Last time I was there WiFi was free and easy; I had dinner at the noodle place while I worked on deadline. Has the policy changed?
