How do I know that? Cause I pulled a Rick Segal and checked Flytecomm. You can follow along. I’m on Southwest Airlines from Las Vegas to Philadelphia Pittsburgh. Flight 2348. I showed my Tablet to a bunch of people standing nearby with a picture of where our plane is. That was a hit.
Update: plane arrived 10 minutes late, just like Flytecomm said.

Wow Robert going to Pitt? But flying into Phili? Where ya going to be I am in Princeton, NJ 40 minutes away not sure if you are going for a while but I know some great places in Princeton, NJ!

You can also type SWA 2348 in Google and it will give you a link to a map with your flight on it through fboweb.com. That link will have a link to Google Earth which will also track the flight through fboweb.com.

Tablet PCs are actually quite viral, too bad the Pen Computing mantle was handed to Microsoft, who has a sheer inability to ever make anything sticky or sexy and has yet to market it to general consumers. On one hand you have to praise them for sticking it out, but on the other slight them for making it droll and totally vertically-focused. Savior and Destroyer as one.

Are you still in Philadelphia?

Leo: sorry, I’m in Pittsburgh. Screwed up on that. I don’t know how I got Philadelphia in my head.

On a non-snarky mode, Flytecomm is actually a great service, it be right a good deal of the time.

Those are very handy. There’s one for Yahoo widgets and OS X includes a widget though it’s had the capability in a standalone app for a few years. Someone should build it into a handset so we don’t have to browse or use a widget.

[...] Scoble’s delayed plane was not an issue as his trusty tablet was put to go use and he surfed over to FlyteCom [...]
If you want a most interesting flight to track on Flytecomm; try Air Canada 15 (ACA15) – Toronto to Hong Kong. It has a most interesting route that, when it changes time zones, crosses all twelve time zones within minutes. Departs 10 a.m. EST daily. My wife reports it crosses lots of uninhabited land masses.

As it is your birthday, you are forgiven due to advancing years, but I can’t believe you didn’t mention that Flytecomm’s data should be available as a RSS feed, i.e. subscribe to your flight (or airport, or airline) etc…
As a flight being delayed should normally be an ‘exception’ rather than rule (Hmm, yeah), it seems like a subscribe/poll/push technology would be ideal?
Shall we split the money?
