  1. Glenn, totally agree.

Anon: I don’t even know where my Yellow Pages is at the moment. Sure don’t carry it with me here in Switzerland. Thanks for playing!

  3. I was at LIFT06 and thought you really made some valid points about corporate communications and blogging. There was one point, where you said that most PR/Comm people don’t want a dialogue with their audiences – they like one way communication like press releases.
But I say they shouldn’t- why?

The latest research on corporate communication shows that the most effective communication occurs when there is a two way dialogue with an audience – that’s the best way to build a relationship, influence an opinion etc. Actually these theories of two way symmetric communication have been developed some years ago by Prof. J Grunig, a US guru in PR effectiveness.

So PR people shouldn’t fear blogging, they should embrace it as it is an effective way to achieve what they want to do.

  5. In one of your videos, you said that if you are not up in the Google results, you don’t exist in business.

Hmm, what about yellow pages then? Don’t yellow pages predate Google when it comes to finding a plumber in your area?
One of today’s problems with finding plumbers in your area is not only to find one, it’s to find one that is not busy with other people. How is Google better than yellow pages in this regard?

Those services that help us are either already in place, or are not in place at all.

That Google rank impresses you is fine, I personally find myself gaming Google every two days by just adding a particular keyword in one of my web pages. You may build the business by spending your daily time gaming this system. Is this any sign of progress?

  7. Not just your hotel. It’s too bad. I was looking forward to seeing Hugh Macleod’s presentation. However, the audio format seems to stream just fine.

Downloads good. Streaming bad (at least until we all get real broadband in the U.S.).
