Hello from the movies

by on March 3, 2006

My son is bummed. His iBook can’t get on the Internet. No wifi in Petaluma’s new movie theaters. But my Verizon card works just great.

We just saw Ultraviolet with his friends. If you like comic books and lots of violence, you’ll like this movie. Everyone else can stay home.

Yeah, this is the theater that seven girls got built (I wrote that up a few weeks back). Yeah, Kathy Sierra, this IS an inspiring place! It’s even better to visit. There’s real joy in this theater. It’s changed the whole town.

Hope your Friday evening is going as well as mine is.

  • ...that explains so much Robert.

do you do anything sans laptop?
  • Sheesh, the guy's blogging about a fun trip to the movies and you people find things to get bent about?

Just so I'm the first to claim the first gripe about it: I don't like theaters built by girls!
  • Steve: I didn't use it INSIDE the theater. We posted from the lobby.

Nate: if you saw that as a swipe at the Mac, you're far far far too sensitive. My PC didn't come with EVDO.
  • NIck, We know Scoble knows how to do that. Everyone has been doing it at recent conferences. This was merely an easy opportunity to take a swipe at Mac. (By the way, even EVDO does not give a good reason for cheap iBooks to have a card slot. If you can only afford an iBook, can you really afford $60-$80/month or EVDO?)
  • Robert, just turn on Internet Connection Sharing, and share your wifi card using your EVDO as the gateway. Turn on your DHCP server, and you're now an access point.
  • Steve
You take a laptop to the movies? How annoying for everyone else there.
  • Dave
Please don't tell me your son tried to get on the internet during the movie. It's rude enough that people have the need to keep their cell phones turned on.... but a PC? If he did, Robert, then you share as much blame - even more since you are the parent - for this insensitive behavior.

And if he did this in the lobby, apologies. You post doesn't give me any indication.
  • I carry mine almost everywhere. I don't dare leave it in the car. If it was ripped off I'd be offline for a weekend! Heheh.
  • You take laptops to a movie theatre? And one is an iBook?
  • Ned
A pity your son doesn't have $60 a month to pay for his Verizon card.
  • met: well, there's a few things I don't write about! Not many, though.
  • Aye, I agree with Tetra. I love comic books, anime, sci-fi action and Kurt Wimmer's previous film (Equilibrium)... but Ultraviolet sucks more than a Dyson. The dialogue alone is painful enough to have you begging for the end.
  • Tetra
I love comic books and movie violence, but Ultraviolet blows harder than a blowhole.

This is like when Ozzie was on TV :) Do you ever do anything without telling us ?
