Skypecasts will let me do new kinds of podcasts

by on May 4, 2006

I'm real excited by the new Skypecasts. Get 100 of your favorite friends into a Skype call, then record it to an eBay server. Who wants to do a Scoblecast?

  • I think they've launched far to early.

E.g. it is not possible to delete a SkypeCast you created for testing.

Also it tries to make a SkypeOut call to a strange number without any explanation why it does so. This was the point the preview did not interest me anymore...
  • This could offer some interesting features to online auctions. You could have a professional, live auctioneer running some high-visibility autions. That's a pretty cool feature.
  • sounds like fun to me. I am ready. Last saturday had a fun with with good friend was NJ, his wife in Reno, I was in the office(bedroom) and wife was in the family room, and we all skyped away

Here's the link for an explanation of this "strange" number: http://andyabramson.blogs.com/voipwatch/2006/05....

Thanks to Andy at VoIP Watch for digging it out.
  • I am in and I know the first topic Second Life as the next generation UI... http://www.multimediame.net/?p=165 or how to mix real life with Second Life http://www.thoughtplasma.com/?p=42

    Cheers,

  • I'm way into mashups right now. Lets do a scoblecast brainstorming and deciding on a mashup.
  • @4 Jim

Thank you for the link. They should have been clearer about that on their SkypeCast pages...
  • I give it a year before we get skype-based AudioSpam
  • I'd love to join in on the fun, but I'm on a Mac and you need version 2.5 of Skype, and the newest version for Mac is 1.6 if I'm not mistaken. Another reason to repair my Windows PC :-)
  • Ant
Yeh definately join you... its an ideal opportunity to get 100 random people talking about the state of software applications... Bring it on!
  • Can we have a SkypeCamp with SkypeSessions?
  • Lee
I guess all good things must come to an end. Skype has terminated the Skypecast service as of September 2008!
