Blogger beats Maine Tourism advertising agency

The Maine Tourism advertising agency that was suing Lance Dutson has backed down.

Excellent, now I can attend Pop!Tech.

I love the theme for Pop!Tech this year: Dangerous Ideas.

This case proves it's dangerous for companies to take on bloggers.

Not only companies, but the Maine State dept of tourism (taxpayers $).

Robert, if this “proves it’s dangerous for companies to take on bloggers” then I can only imagine that William Randolph Hearst is cheering from the Great Beyond as slander and innuendo will inevitably win the day. I couldn’t disagree with your conclusion more, my friend, and I’ll try to find some time this weekend to write about it on my own weblog as it’s an important discussion for us to have.

  5. Dave: companies have always had to deal with slander and innuendo. You think the mainstream press always gave us a fair deal? Heh!

But, attacking a blogger with corporate lawyers will ALWAYS cause a backlash. Why? Most people in our culture vote for the little guy. Even if the little guy is wrong.
