Where the hell is Matt?

by on July 1, 2006

Who is this guy Matt? He sure gets around the world, but he isn’t sitting on my couch like Seth Long is (we’re watching the World Cup).

He recently wrote that he doesn’t get HD, but had to check it out here. “It’s pretty,” he told me. Says if Formula 1 was broadcast in HD that might throw him over the top.

Speaking of Matt he wrote in his FAQ that he visited Totem Lake in Kirkland and thought it was the most depressing place he’d ever visited. That’s near my house. Ouch!

Totem Lake *is* depressing (at least, if you're talking about the mall. Is there a real lake somewhere?). I've lived not far from there for almost two years now, and just a couple of weeks ago I made my first trip there. If I have any say in the matter, it will also be my last trip there...
  • Totem Lake IS depressing, dude. Deal with it.

Of course, I like off of 172nd Ave. down from work (next to a REAL lake), and it's just as depressing here. They're building three luxury houses up the street, so close together you don't need to leave your house to have an affair. Asking price? Why, they start from the low $1 millions!

    Sigh.
  • I'm assuming the first link was supposed to be www.wherethehellismatt.com ??

Matt, btw, is a friedn of mine and probably someone you'd be interested in meeting. He's back in Seattle having figured out how you leverage an Internet meme into a sponsorship to pay your way aroudn the world!
  • Mark: sorry about that, I fixed the link.

Seattle and surrounding area is depressing I moved from there after 6 years. Maybe that's why Secod life was so interesting, nothing to do in Seattle but wait for the sun to come out.
  • The video for Formula One comes from the standard video feed provided around the world, which isn't HD. When CBS broadcasts F1, they show it cropped and crappy even on their HD channels.

Of course, if he wants, there is still time to fly to Indy for tomorrow's race. Plenty of tickets still available...
  • My brother Brian mounted a mini-computer with GPS, webcam, etc. to his motorcycle and is blogging his way from San Diego to the Arctic Circle. He's in Canada now.
