Why isn’t this picture on Valleywag?

One of the funniest things I’ve ever seen at a conference is when this picture appeared on the screen while Chris Pirillo was doing announcements on stage. The crowd laughed at him, with him, at itself, for minutes. I was almost in tears I was laughing so hard.

Chris was quite embarrassed, which made it even funnier. (Update: those two pictures aren’t actually joined, I’ll try to link to the right photo when Josh gets it up — or if one of you finds the right photo. The reaction was very similar, just want to be totally accurate here).

It was a “you had to be there” moment.

If Nick’s smart he won’t bite, when people WANT it on, is the best time to avoid. Chris Pirillo is an attention hog, he has no shame, no such thing as negative publicity, yeah yeah. As such, you don’t spit and shine things up like that. The best pictures are ones that would have Chris P. really boiling over mad and reaching for his lawyers number. Plus this is the oldest ham-up game in the book, Howard Stern style, done Sun Tzu, “when you are strong, pretend to be weak.”

I thought Marc Canter had the best pic and some of the best lines during Gnomedex.

I also like the loosely coupled DNA of his company:

Robert, the reaction photo you linked to doesn’t actually have anything to do with this photo – it was actually from when he tried to return the lost digital camera, and found out he didn’t have the right person.

Here’s a link to his reaction (not as dramatic) to having that photo shown to everyone:

Great to see you at G6 – we’ll have to hook up next time I’m in the Valley! :-)
