Yes, we’re selling the infamous Red Couch, among other things, at a garage sale that starts tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. at our house. 14414 86th PL NE Bothell, WA 98011.

This couch is infamous cause it was used on stage at Gnomedex last year and has had famous and interesting people like David Allen sitting on it.

Yeah, I guess I should list this on Edgeio which is the cool way for bloggers to sell their stuff.

Oh, and feel free to drop by. Patrick is selling Lemonade and Cookies.

  • CAVEMAN ZOG NOT THING DAVID ALLEN ALL THAT INTERESTING. AND MAYBE ONLY FAMOUS TO SIX BLOGGERS THAT CAPTURE NERD ATTENTION LIKE ZOG CAPTURE ANTELOPE. HOWEVER CAVEMAN ZOG THINK RED COUCH VERY CLASSY, WISH SCOBLEIZER WOULD KEEP AS MEMENTO OF OLD DAYS. MAYBE SOMEDAY MERLIN MANN SIT ON COUCH.
  • Caveman: how about you? I need more cool people to sit on my couch. BTW: is your Shift key broken? My son broke one of his keys on his Mac and has a similar problem.

    Dang!

Chris Pirillo said the couch was ruined after last year's bloggercon and we believed him. Shame on us - it was a dodge so he could keep the couch to himself.

Congrats and good luck on the move.
  • Robert, do you have a preview of other items you'll be selling tomorrow? Anything else that Pirillo said was "ruined" that might be cool? :-)
  • Caveman Zog may well be the best blog I've ever read.

    FANTASTIC
  • Not selling online? That would be probably impractical, but cool :)

Have a not too stressful move. Do you need a new URL for the book blog now?
  • Somehow I feel you should have rather listed it on freecycle, things which are as good as this either should be auctioned on ebay or should be given free
not sure why i felt like saying so...
  • Nice couch, blinding red though it is!(Rubbing eyes now!) Still though a nice one indeed.
  • I don't think I am in the same league as Caveman Zog but I _have_ sat on that very couch (Robert even moved off it to make room for me) and can attest to its comfort.
  • Dmad
uhhh..do you happen to know the definition of "infamous"?
  • Dmad: yes, I can use Dictionary.com. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/infamous

This is a marketing trick. First, it gets you to correct my grammar, which makes me realize you still read me. :-)

Second, things that have a "notorious reputation" are more interesting than things that are "good." After all, it's a red couch. What makes it marketable is a good story. Or a good lie. Oh, wait, I saw that in a Seth Godin book somewhere.
  • Scoble,

When I read the title for this post, I was sure it was a play on the one red paper clip news that hit today (that he got to the house): http://oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com/ . Guess not.
  • Aren't you going to inventory and provide full disclosure of each item for sale and how you obtained it, Robert? ;)

Looks like you've got nice weather there today for a garage sale. Have fun.
  • It should be donated to the Smithsonian.
  • Well, maybe not the Smithsonian just yet. Perhaps you could create a blog for the red couch and run a series of posts about the couch's experiences hosting all the people who sat on it. You could call the blog "The life of a red couch" or something like that.

Could be quite an interesting perspective on all the famous people who got to sit on the couch?
  • Robert - Will you ship it to Wisconsin? If so, how much?
  • I'd rather not, it's too much of a pain to ship anywhere.
  • And here, in all its historical splendor, is a photo of aforementioned couch from Gnomedex 5, with JD Lasica, Chris Pirillo, and Scoble apparently playing 'see no evil, hear no evil."

  • How can this many people care so much about a couch? Isn't this blog supposed to be about Microsoft... er, I mean.. that new podcasting site?
  • Skeptic: I told several people that that red couch was #1 on Google for "Red Couch" and they all said "you're pulling my leg" or something like that.

Why do geeks care about it? Cause it's one baaadddd couch. Heheh.
  • Looks like you had a couple of beers before you got started - having a grand old time.
  • CAVEMAN ZOG LOVES IDEA OF SITTING ON COUCH. BUT SCOBLEIZER LONG WALK FROM ATHERTON. AS FAR AS SHIFT KEY, BLAME ZOG'S ASSISTANT - ZOG DICTATE THESE COMMENTS.
  • Bea
I need a red couch. I will buy your red couch for 5o dollars.
