Why you should always treat your bosses well

Last night my new boss, John Furrier, met my old boss, Steve Sloan. Ahh, they compared notes.

“So, did he ever show you a resume?”

    “Nope.”

    “Yeah, me neither.”

I hired Robert because, even then, he was a gifted person who knew what he was talking about, he had a keen vision for the future, he was genuine and liked people, he was an optimist even in the face of pessimism, he had a way of winning people over and diffusing critics with a smile and a laugh, he was not afraid to take a chance, he pushed the envelope and was an agent of change, he had boundless energy and equally boundless enthusiasm, he was honest to a fault and incredibly trustworthy. He cared about our customers and I learned a hell of a lot from him. All those qualities he had then I believe he still has. I hired him because of all this and because I could see that spark of creative genius that you sometimes see in rare students that tells you they will be the true teachers and the best we can do is enable them. He is the real deal, even though he did drink all my diet cokes!
