All links lead to Google video

by on July 20, 2006

A cool feature arrived today from Google Video: you can now link to specific parts of videos hosted there. The video space just keeps getting hotter. Speaking of hot videos, have you checked out Genève’s Kitchen, a cooking show by Geneve Stewart? As she says, Holy Guacamole. Stick that into your Google Video and link to it!

  • Does anyone know if they are playing large video files from offset? I didn't think that Flash supported this via HTTP without downloading the everything in the timecode before the new start point. These jump points start playback right away which I only thought was possible with the FCS server.
  • Thanks for the link, Robert. Geneve and I just ordered a Canon Elura 100 and a couple of Macbooks (they're waiting at Fedex right now!). We're aiming to do an episode a week. Holy Guacamole was an experiment that we learned a lot from and we're excited to keep learning!

  • Thanks Robert! There's more to come soon! Any special food requests? ;)
  • Hi Robert,
Our company, http://www.veotag.com, has also thought about the problem of deep linking and tagging within a video (or audio).

Would love your opinion of our solution. For a sample, go to http://www.veotag.com/jalc and click any program. The basic service is free.

    Regards,
    Howard
