Getting outside the echochamber

Two college kids in Iowa start a company (aimed at making it easier for families to stay in touch in a secure way) and now they are doing something interesting to get outside the echo chamber: they renovated a 1971 VW van and are driving that across country.

Is it working? I just subscribed.

Speaking of getting outside the echochamber, this next week is moving week. We’re up in Seattle getting our stuff together for the movers. We’ll be here until Monday evening, then driving down again to the Bay Area.

Road trip ahead!

  1. More power to these guys; I sincerely hope they succeed in their endeavors. It’s tough doing what they’re doing.
    Absolutely love the van. I have wanted a VW bus for years now but cannot find one that is suitably cherry enough, craigslist and autotrader notwithstanding.

  5. Not bad: I’ve been waiting for someone to come up with this family based social network. Unfortunately, it’s very buggy so far.

  7. Developer for MyKin here… thanks for the post! Not only do we have a pretty cool site, but the underlying structure is pretty neat. As developers, I’m sure you guys would appreciate it. I’m going to be releasing the framework opensource here in a month or two (once I get it in a state thats non-specific to my site)

    @Goebbles

    I think you spelled b0rked wrong ;) Would you hit me up off comments to let me know what was going wrong? Hopefully its not a Mac thing… I love the beasts but I cant afford one and its hard to find Macs to work on from the road.

  9. [...] Julio told me last week that Scoble linked to them, and they had a copy of the Hitachi Data Systems Silicon Valley map. I see these around the building here and there. I left them a comment on their blog to invite them to lunch, and I was pleased to have Mike and Zach over to my work at Hitachi Data Systems yesterday! [...]
