Boiling (and freezing) in Yellowstone’s rivers

Ahh, the joys of owning a low-cost videocamera. Anyway, I bring you along to the Boiling River inside Yellowstone National Park. It’s an experience that I can’t quite explain to you other than to say my butt was freezing and my legs were burning when I shot this on my Sanyo Xacti HD1. Nice camera, by the way — stores videos on a SD card instead of tape, which makes it a lot easier to put up on Blip.TV, albeit the quality isn’t even close to the Sony. It’s also a lot smaller and a lot less expensive (about $700 at B&H).

On the video you’ll see Christian Long, CEO of DesignShare. He was a high-school teacher who now helps design schools around the world.

    Great blog Scoble! I loved Yellowstone .. I visited in my younger days, it was a shame I wasn’t old enough to appreciate it’s beauty. I plan on going back once I have kids and let them experience it first hand. Yellowstone should be on everyones ‘to-do’ list.

    What a bunch of totally *HOT* geeks. Who’s boiling now? ME! Hubba hubba! I only wish I would have been one of the ones who got to see Scoble naked. I passed out before it got to that stage. And I am a gal who just hates to settle. Better luck next time. Note to self: Don’t drink John’s home brew.

    Hope to see everyone at Off the Grid 2.0 in Port Townsend, WA next summer, where we will *really* be off the grid as well as away from any septic system. Bring your own shovel!
