Congrats to Windows Live team (and the Atlas team)
Lots of new stuff came out today from Microsoft’s Windows Live team. Yes, they still are behind in lots of areas but it’s a marathon and where before today they used to be 20 minutes behind the leaders now they are two minutes behind. Will they catch the leaders and pull ahead? That is yet to be seen, but at least they are back in the race. How do I know that? Cause Yahoo’s Jeremy Zawdony is paying attention.
Microsoft has lots of news today. Scott Guthrie also has a roadmap post on Atlas, Microsoft’s AJAX toolset. Are there developers interested in Web 2.0 concepts? 250,000 downloads this year so far say “yes.”

I like the new Virtual Earth features. The ability to share notes on the web is killer IMO.

What was also interesting Robert is that you obviously had a huge impact at Microsoft. The VE team placated a huge GIS blogger by focusing on his home town. I can’t imagine it cost much, but the positive press from bloggers is so important against Google Maps. Yes Jeremy is paying attention, but so is the VE team and as an end user, that means a ton.

I really like it! In fact I’m planning to switch from Google to Windows Live but the thing is I use a mac and it’s quite snobbish on firefox (I dont use the jurassic safari!)

There’s a few of us actually using Atlas to power public Web 2.0 sites (not exactly a Microsoft-friendly space):

Atlas is a very good framework, particularly given the fact that it’s still in CTP.

I don’t like it at all. I can’t find what I need any longer. Please put me back to the old format.
