No more HP, why I love Blip.TV

Maryam’s driving, I’m answering email. Seems that’s the best time to answer email these days. Today was really busy. Scrapblog is awesome. Like a cross between desktop publishing software and WordPress. Photographers are going to love it. Jajah is awesome too. But can’t say much more cause they aren’t allowed to talk until they show their new stuff off at Demo next week.

Anyway, I see a few of my favorite readers are tired of me talking about HP. OK, heard and understood. I won’t write any more about HP unless something dramatic happens.

Why do I love Blip.TV (a great videoblogging service)? The CEO, Mike Hudack just posted his cell phone number and said “call me if you have any trouble.” He didn’t do this to just me, but everyone in the videoblogging mailing list. Imagine if every CEO did that.

While I at VON (Video on the Net) in Boston. Mike had forgotten his BB charger at the hotel. I had mine in the backpack and let him use it. Well, we never reconnected after that. The next day I recieve an e-mail from Mike saying he is a thief. 3 days later a package arrives from Amazon with a note saying “i got you 2 in case I need to borrow one again”. I will agree that Mike is a class act and Blip.tv is also.

I agree too. I emailed Mike about a feature that I thought Blip.tv should have. It was about displaying a 3GP file type instead of saying ‘other’ on the video’s display page.

He emailed me back seven minutes later saying that he had made the fix and it was live on the site.

Blip.tv is the opposite of a nameless faceless hosting service.

Real people work there AND they get back to you.

Mike’s awesome, he’s always there when we need him… and equally amazing is co-founder Charles Hope. Whenever either Rudy or I are in New York, they are there for us (whether it be business or pleasure).

denjames: not to mention two employees got fired.

Too bad it took three weeks to happen. It’ll take a while for the smell from this one to clear. It’ll also be interesting if worse news breaks for the CEO. His boat certainly took some big hits. Not sure it can survive much more.

Wow. Mike Hudack of Blip.TV almost sounds to good to be true. Sounds like he understands that it’s all about building relationship with your costumers. Going to be fun watching what Blip.TV will come up with in the future!
