Wordpress wins big Le Monde.fr account

by on October 30, 2006

I’m sitting here on Pier 38 with Toni Schneider, CEO of Automattic, the folks who make Wordpress (I was here to meet someone else and dropped in to say hi). He says that Le Monde (France’s big newspaper) just moved 5,000 blogs over to Wordpress. More details on Toni’s blog.

  • Wowza -- WordPress just keeps getting more and more popular. I just moved over to WordPress myself on my personal blog; I need the flexibility!
  • Pierre
That is great news for Wordpress and a huge blow for Typepad losing this major French account despite Loic Le Meur’s local big mouth lobbying for Six Apart.
  • Bertil
And it was very much needed, as LeMonde was crappy.

Pierre: not sure LeMonde (center left) users would have done anything following Loïc Lemeur's opinion, as most of the French blogosphere nailed him for openly saying he favors N. Sarkozy (the liberal right wind Home Office Minister). This is election year here!

I've been hesitating on what platform to use for setting up my blog anytime, and this says it all.
