  5. I was going to be there…but my son had a school event that I decided to go to.

Here’s hoping that this event was caught on video and will be made available to view?

So, what did winners get? Some sort of statuette? ;)

Again – truly awe struck here. Truly amazing.

  7. Wow. That was a blast. I was blown away by the sheer variety and passion of vlogs represented. We are most definitely on the cusp of something incredible.

  8. [...] …surpassed my greatest expectations — with all the glitches and mistakes. Thanks to everyone! I’m goign to pass out now, but please read my boss Robert Scoble’s list of winners and more winners from the viewers’ votes as well as a wrap up. Also, I called Josh Wolf’s parents and they transcribed an acceptance speech from his phone call from jail — we miss you Josh. He is now the longest jailed journalist — longer than New York Times’ Judith Miller. [...]

  15. [...] The Vloggies were a smashing success last night, thanks to GETV’s own Irina Slutsky who hatched the idea and worked tirelessly for the past couple of months to make the event a reality. Over 300 people showed up at the Swedish American Hall in San Francisco to honor winners in 70 categories (35 by judges, 35 by people’s choice). The big winners last night were our new friends Alive in Baghdad (interview coming soon) who took home 7 Vloggies, including Favorite Vlog which came with a new $2000 Intel Core 2 Duo laptop. GETV also won a Vloggie in the People’s Choice awards for Favorite Interview vlog. Scobleizer has the full winners list in Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice. Laughing Squid’s Scott Beale, as always, has the favorite photos from the evening. [...]

  18. [...] The video blog from Iraq, Alive in Baghdad, won Best Vlog, Best Group Vlog, Best Political Vlog and Favorite Interview Vlog at the Vloggies in San Francisco over the weekend. Robert Scoble lists the other winners (Judges’ Choices): Ze Frank got Favorite Male Blog (Go, Speed Racers!), Ryanne Hudson was named Favorite Female Vlogger, Ask a Ninja won Favorite Comedy Vlog, and Rocketboom won Favorite News Vlog despite a – ahem – controversial year. In the people’s choice voting, Ask a Ninja won Favorite Vlog, with Alive in Baghdad winning Favorite Group Vlog. (Flickr photostream here.) [...]

  27. [...] Alive in Baghdad recently swept the Vloggies videoblog awards, so I gather this isn’t representative of their best work. Watching the interview, I found myself wishing that the talking head footage had been punctuated with clips illustrating what is being talked about. I am very supportive of efforts like Alive In Baghdad, but I firmly believe that citizen’s media like this won’t really succeed until it uses the medium as well as mainstream news. I don’t mean expensive production sheen, I mean the kind of pace and editing that well-produced news exhibits. Imagine if the producers had been able to pull from a large, well-indexed archive of freely available video footage, and had used it to repond to Al-Kasim’s plea to “show what’s really goin on in Iraq.” [...]

  28. Wow such a great list…. I have seen several of them before such as Blip TV, Its Jerry time. I don’t know why its Jerry time got the best web design-I found nothing special about it. But ask a Ninja is really a hilarious Vlog I must say. Anyways, thanks a lot for the list. I am gonna check out all of them.
