More from the Vloggies
OK, I have a complete list of winners from the Vloggies up now — the big winners was Alive in Baghdad (they got the only standing ovation of the evening). Interestingly enough, before the Vloggies, I had never seen their stuff and it really is incredible. In fact, I haven’t seen many of the award winners before tonight and there’s some really interesting video going on out there. I’m slowing going through the list and will share my favorites from time to time. I love Ze Frank and Rocketboom, but there’s really a lot more incredible work being done out there and I’m glad we got a chance to highlight just a little bit of that tonight.
Vloggies really was an incredible show, so many interesting people there and a great vibe, which has always been true of the videoblogging community from when I first saw videoblogs at Northern Voice, to the vloggercon, to here. Irina Slutsky deserves credit for having the dream and getting it to happen. Valerie Cunningham did a huge amount of work behind the scenes. So did Maryam and others that I’m forgetting.
Technorati’s Kevin Marks filmed Jerry Zucker’s remarks, which were pretty funny.
Sebastian Prooth interviewed the voice guy, Joe Klein.
Tom Foremski, Silicon Valley Watcher, has a good report. One thing that Tom got sorta incorrect is that Irina was the one who got most of the people to come out and it was her vision that got this to happen. Valerie kicked ass, though, too. Both deserve credit, not just one.

Clearly the market wants more content and advertisers showed up. Yahoo Video, Intel, Revver, Blip.tv, Dabble, WebEx, Google, and Apple among others. PodTech was proud to have put this together because of the energy and spirit that this community puts out. I really wanted to do the vloggies for two reasons: 1) Irina Slutsky’s passion and vision - after vloggercon we both agreed that this would be a great thing and did her vision come true - a big congrats to Irina, and 2) PodTech’s vision is one of creation and creativity around the Internet as a direct platform for media developers - I want to promote and highlight the leaders developing media because there isn’t enough supply of content on the market in this format. I saw Live from Baghdad and it rocks!
I think they should shoot a sequel starting where LFB ends and until Saddam is deposed from power. How Saddam was captured would make it very interesting.

Is it possible for just one second for American bloggers, who post their phone numbers on the web, to consider identifying their time-zones vis-a-vis GMT? And to append their country code in front?
If you are so keen on blogging and Vloggies, you sure would know your readers come from all sorts of places around the world.

suggest you find an alternate “vloggie” image — and fast. there’s an unintentional goatse thing going on there.
also — andrew baron from rocketboom promptly put his vloggie up on ebay. classless. i mean, i know it’s not exactly the oscars, but didn’t spielberg spend hundreds of thousands of dollars rescuing statues from high end auction houses? not appropriate at all and a slap in the face to those who work so hard in the space.
