Two Zunes arrived…
It’s Zune day. Despite my being harsh, two Zunes arrived tonight for me to play with. I didn’t ask for them. Edelman sent them over. Very nice of them. It says I can keep one, if I want, or I can send them both back (they included postage-paid return box). One of them is just so I can test out the music sharing part of the Zune.
Ahh, it’s 12:21 p.m. — zune it’ll be Zune time. Heheh.
First I gotta go through my feeds for my link blog. There’s a TON of great stuff on the feeds today.

I am sure everyone has had a good look at the picture of zune, notice the hard bound soviet-era style box and also the colors. Microsoft would have asked a carpenter for the design. They had to get it designed and release just before christmas.

Can’t wait to read your review of the Zune!

Wow, that’s a cool mailing list to be on ;-). Especially like the keep one aspect of it, rather than return both.

[...] Hey Scobleizer - you can send one of them to Rex Dixon! I’ll do the Rex Dixon spin on it (review). Just hit me up in e-mail, listen to the podcast for it. Technically Speaking, I’ll take a Zune since I don’t own an iPod! [...]

Robert I think the ZUne is cooler than the IPOD. Your lucky to get it free. I am sure if it was Apple who sent some cool new product you would have jumped for joy and given a immediate lengthy positive review.

I’m sure they made a point of sending you two _because_ you’ve been harsh, not in spite of it.

That would be really cool to receive 2 and keep one, let us no how the review goes. Im looking to buy one because my Ipod as stuffed up . . once again.

It seems that last post of yours complaining that you didn’t get a Zune worked after all.

The Zune is awesome. The Zune is cool. My son loves the Zune. I’m not saying this just because I received my Zune for free. No way. This is the freaking best media player in the world. Here’s why it’s cool:
- the Zune is a media player
- the Zune uses software
- the Zune is brown. The brown is a conversation starter
- the Zune has WiFi. Since I have two free Zunes, I can Zune from one to the other on the WiFi
- did I mention it is free
Watch out Apple iPod. Here comes Zune. I predict Apple will go out of business zune. Microsoft has it right. Giving away Zune players is a brilliant business plan. Getting objective reviews and research from bloggers and thinktanks is the way to go.
Zune! Zune! Zune! (sorry Mazda, you’re 0wn3d by MS Zune now)
Welcome to the Social!
Zune!

Jake: actually I got a brown and a black one.
What will really be interesting is when I see my son next and ask him what he thinks. He has an 80GB iPod that he paid his own money for. I seriously doubt he’ll give me his iPod in exchange for a Zune.

I have to run out and buy one tonight. Promised my smart, but scolastically bored teen if he got at least B’s for just once in his life I would get him one (thats what he said he wanted…. says the biggest thing is since its CE based he knows Microsoft will be doing cool updates and he is betting on 3rd party add-ons…. he is on his 3rd Pocket PC and has all kinds of stuff on that. He slammed his grades with no fighting on my part which I consider a miracle. I guess you could say the Zune is educational. ;-)

I still cannot believe that the software doesn’t work on Vista. Not like Vista was released without any sort of notice. I like the GUI on the device but there are so many lacking features I think they should have waited until they had a killer feature.
Also MS ‘the platform company’ needs to think about what this is going to do to its partner relationships. How much investment will WMP get now? Especially the online store features.

Someday I hope to get stuff to review, but if I did it would probably just be toys or movies…..that would be cool to, but man, I love tech….looking forward to your thoughts..

Scoble,
Please make an easily recognizable link for your link blog instead of that odd google link. some think like http://www.scobleizer.com/linkblog would be nice.

I like it because it’s free.

“What will really be interesting is when I see my son next and ask him what he thinks.”
You already asked him and he said it sucked. Do we really have to hear that again? We get it. Your son thinks it sucks (and therefore it does, right?). No need to repeat it.

Lemme see if I understand Edleman’s logic: “Hey! Let’s send a Zune to Scoble. He used to work for Microsoft, still owns stock in the company, and
more importan, he now works in the vblogging business and the Zune doesn’t support podcasting. So, I think it would be GREAT to get his unbiased opinion.” Do I have that right?

LayZ: I don’t think they cared WHAT I wrote about Zune. It just adds to the salad.
But, I have shown it to more than 20 people so far.
They are getting their money’s worth.

Should I send my shipping address now or later?

Oh, and my Zune video got 19,000 visits in the first few days of it being up.
Today my blog has seen more than 17,000 views.
Not too bad PR for Edelman.

I’m also #3 on Google for “Zune Review.”
So, there.

Phillip: I learned that these both are Microsoft’s property and can’t be transfered to anyone else. Sorry.

@13 Heath, just start writing glowing reviews for products. Say that a new generation 3 product is coming out that you want. Write a great review for the generation 2 product and other products that gizmo co. makes. Set up a bunch of dummy blogs and link to your reviews.
Before you know it, you’ll be deemed an authoritative blogger on gizmo cos products and you’ll start getting things to review.

@21. Fair point. This must be the “Pimp My Zune” strategy.

Sorry Scoble, you’re no longer 3rd on Google for “Zune Review”, you’re actually 8th :)

Zunes is not awesome. It borders on the edge of a complete disgrace. Here is why:
