The geek wedding of the decade

by on December 7, 2006

We’re traveling today to Seattle to attend what could be the geek wedding of the decade: Chris and Ponzi’s wedding.

Forget the wedding registry. I want to know what the tag is gonna be!

How about: pirillowedding? The good thing about that tag is there’s nothing on Google yet about it.

For the next few days I’ll keep up my link blog if I can, but won’t be doing much blogging.

Over on ScobleShow we’ll post something new everyday. Today is a three-minute demo of Pando Networks, which has a cool way to send huge files to other people. Hey, who said I couldn’t do short videos?

Just a reminder: no one pays to get on ScobleShow except for my main sponsor, Seagate. So, thanks to Seagate I get to bring all these cool technology companies to you to show off their wares.

  • Someone should pay him to write something on his chest for the honeymoon: http://rentmychest.com

    :)

    have fun!
  • Believe it or not, but they got offers to sponsor the wedding, but Ponzi killed that idea.
  • You keep putting out short videos, I might actually have to watch them to conclusion. Way to ruin everything for me. Thanks. Oh yeah, welcome home.
  • Samuel
There may not be any results on google with that search , but there is with this one http://www.google.com/search?q=%22pirillo+weddi...
    :)

btw, I've only checked out your scobleshow a few times, but are any of them downloadable?
reason why - at home I'm on a slow internet connection, but I can download at my college, and watch at home...
  • I suggest "pirilloponzi," because it includes both of them, and not just because of my song by that name.

    Samuel:
Yes, they are. Right-click on the "Watch Move" link and save the MOV file.
  • Samuel
    Zian:
Thanks, I'll try it out soon.

robert, what do you define as "geek"? i have a hard time calling anyone who doesn't code or do something fairly technical a geek.

i also don't think leo laporte, that mossberg guy, or any other famous people who write about technology are geeks, either.

robert, you should learn ruby or python.
  • Warren: a geek in my book is anyone who is super passionate about technology. Extra points if you code, but that's not necessary.
  • I vote for gnuptials.
  • Warren -- I can't code much either, but technology is my passion, and there's nothing about which I'd rather write or talk. I consider myself a geek.

I don't agree that in order to be a geek one must know how to code.
  • i'm using pirillowedding unless i hear otherwise...

    Robert,

I wrote an article tagged "PirilloWedding" at http://www.opendomain.org/2006/12/08/pirillowed... but the pingback did not seem to work. We linked directly to pirillo.com so now it is the number 1 in a Google search, but my page is #3! I did not expect that - I thought this was a great meme to understand pageRank (sort of 'like nigritude ultramarine') Google responded alot quicker than I though for this search- I am very impressed with their search engine. Yahoo has good results, but MSN still stinks.
  • My son would be thrilled with a good way to send big files! He is sending whole universes these days--Battlefront 2 worlds, anyway. Doing it via dialup is ridiculously painful. Would this new thing be of any use to those of us living in the dark ages (dialup)?

Mary, mom to a million...(not quite)
