The geek behind TailRank…

Here you get to meet Kevin Burton (26-minute interview), the developer behind TailRank (which competes with my favorite TechMeme).

I’ve been looking at TailRank more and more lately and it is, indeed, coming on strong. The next year is going to be interesting to watch Kevin go at it against Gabe. May the best geek win!

  • I use both. They do have some of the same news day in and day out, but they have times when one is getting news the other isn't. I think the key to the winner will be better news coverage and more specialization.
  • We like both Kevin and Gabe, A little bit of healthy competition will keep em both on their toes.
  • Really enjoyed this podcast for two reasons:

    1. I used to think Kevin Burton was a (scary) ex-US Marine but he has a pretty good sense of humo(u)r.

    2. He admitted to a mistake (GUI in Tailrank V1.0) which bodes well.

    PS. The interview was too long and directionless towards the the end. Also it started with that irritating, cackling laughter and a private joke. Both are bad traits although the volume and picture quality were excellent though.
