I think it’s disingenuous to post this without revealing that your employer sponsors TechMeme. I’ve read several of your articles about how awesome TechMeme is, but have never seen you mention that Podtech sponsors them. Yet, when I clicked on this “river” link, I found:

7:26 AM PodTech.net: Marketing Voices: Nielsen Buzzmetrics’ Pete Blackshaw [Sponsor Post]

Please disclose these potential conflicts of interest when you post about “great” sites.

  3. [...] I visit TechMeme several times a day. Robert Scoble links to a new feature released today called TechMeme River, that allows us to get a list of the published links from the last five days. [...]

  4. SlashChick: how is that a conflict? We buy advertising on Gabe’s site. Does every company that buys advertising somewhere need to make a big deal about it? That’s not a conflict of interest at all.

What is a conflict? If Gabe said something nice about PodTech without disclosing it. Why? The cash is going TOWARD him.

I don’t expect Techmeme River to be used extensively. Only occasionally, for searching and scanning. But it’s a power user featured I feel needed to support.

Yes Stefan, I hear you. But not enough to actually do anything yet! :O

Hmm, maybe you have an anti-conflict with Techmeme. Heh.

Robert, I still think it’s appropriate to disclose that you have a business relationship with this site. It’s not just that you like it, but that your company advertises on it. Heck, spin it as “I liked it so much I convinced PodTech to buy ads on this site” if you want. But do disclose it. More information is better information.

  10. SlashChick: OK, I disclose. But any astute reader could have figured that out anyway. We certainly don’t hide it over on TechMeme and we’ll be an advertiser all month.
