JK, um...you may not have ever read my site, so it's possible you missed this: I am an asshole. Not in the "gets you fired, steals your spouse and wrecks your car" kind of way, but yeah. I have a certain fondness for Schadenfrude, and I'll not pretend otherwise just so I can be like the rest of the world. I point things out as I see them in the way I best see fit. You may not like this. Here's the happy part, you don't have to. Won't change how I do things, but that's your option...to not like me.

However, I do have a certain fondness for Robert. If he can ever really let go the religious tendencies of his upbringing, (a rather hard thing to do, and the attempt has meaning in and of itself), he'll be a lot better writer and interviewer. However, my version of encouragement isn't the "pat them on the head and say soothing things". It's more of the "put a foot in their ass and tell them to stop bein' stupid all the damned time". I'm pretty sure by now that Robert is able to look at his life and manage his self-esteem just fine, like any grown adult should be able to.

He just needs more voices that think the "blogosphere" is pretty damned stupid and self-serving as a sanity check. If he didn't want different voices, he'd not allow comments.

The truth is, I like that Robert disagrees with me. Oh sure, he gets kinda whiny, but you learn more in ten minutes of disagreement than days of preaching to the choir. That is, if you can get your ego out of the way.

Robert, for better or no, is the guy I'd go to first if I needed real information about the "Blogosphere". He's got a better grasp of it both than most at his level, and he's able to talk about the human side of it better. The tech side is minor, that's just bytes. I can learn that from anywhere.

There's very few people who don't have something they can teach you, and, to be blunt, most of them are going to be people you don't like. If you can move past silly things like "I can't learn from/work with someone I don't like", then the Universe opens up in ways you'll never see otherwise.

Or, you can call people assholes and close yourself to what they may be able to show you. Doesn't really matter to anyone but you in the end.

So Dave Winer thinks the Google Blog is not a blog because it's not the work of one person, but rather a "group think" project. Hmm, interesting.

Dave Winer pretty much dislikes anyone doing stuff differently from him or using his ideas in a way he didn't approve of. Bright guy, not terribly good with not being "the guy" in everything.
