There’s some porn on my link blog

My link blog isn’t safe for work today. Not that many of you are working anyway. But if images of women kissing each other disturbs you, you might not want to look at my link blog today. Thanks to TechCrunch who reported on a Web 2.0 participant-generated porn site (I hate calling things “user generated,” especially in this case).

UPDATE: the comments over on TechCrunch have brought out the anti-porn moralists.

  • Steve: there are billions of people around the world who don't believe that God and his son died for our sins. I'm one of those. My morality comes from a higher organization than religion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morality

    But, I understand that other people don't agree with my morality. It's why I don't try to push it on other people. But I do note when people like you try to push yours on mine.

    Jesus worried a lot more about society's treatment of the poor than what sex acts we were doing with each other. At least if you believe that the bible was written by God (I used to be a fundamentalist Christian -- and was from 1982 through 1994 -- so have read the bible probably more times than you have).

    Last week I visited New Orleans. What I saw there bothered me a LOT more than any porn site I've ever seen.

    Are you doing anything about the poverty in our country? In the bible poverty is mentioned at least 200 times more than sex. So, are you writing 200 entries decrying poverty in our country for the three or four you've written today about this site, which contains fairly tame pictures as porn sites go?

    Robert, I appreciate your argument about poverty, but it is people like John Edwards, his Democrat companions, and many mainstream Republicans advocating big government solutions to poverty and the like that prevent individuals from making as much of a difference as they might like.

    I tithe to my church and am infinitely more confident that my tithing has the opportunity to reach the hands of someone in need versus my income tax payments. Sure there are problems with modern-day Christianity (notably the overt hypocrisy of MANY who profess to be Christians), but those problems pale in comparison to those created and fostered by our government (the welfare state being a prime example).

    Don't let the hyprocisy of some (myself included, because I'm 100% sure that I will sin today and fall far short of God's glory, but I am saved because I have chosen to accept him and am covered by his grace) push you away.
