Sometimes I need an hour away from the computer…

Jason Calacanis, founder of Weblogsinc.com and Engadget.com, in an open letter to me: “At this point you’re basically slandering them and spreading lies. You’re acting like a spoiled jerk and as your friend I feel the need to tell you that.”

I just took a couple of hours away from the computer flying down to Demo and spent most of that time thinking about this and I have to admit that the past four days have not been my best professionally. So, I’m going to pull back here, and hope we can all shake hands here at the Demo conference and get on with giving our respective audiences the best content possible.

    Jacek:

    1. Believe me, no one in their right mind would consider your crappy, almost illegible sites to be any sort of “competition.”

    2. If Microsoft likes you so much, then why are you a topic of ridicule at each and every Mobius conference? Even MS employees get in on the fun. If Microsoft respects your contributions to the Windows Mobile community, then why are you not — nor will you ever be — a VIP?

    3. Where exactly do you identify yourself as Jacek Rutkowski on the Comic Strip Blog?

    4. If you are such a legitimate blogger, why do you stalk people all the way across the world to the point where they have to contact local authorities? Please explain how harassing other writers with relentless phone calls is in any way acceptable.

    5. Of course I wouldn’t leave my real name when calling out a known stalker: you’re batshit crazy, friend.

Anonymous p-g that is envious of my achievements, so continues slander and lies that doesn’t deserve my comment. Robert Scoble: you as blog owner, not anonymous commenters, are responsbile for slander so I recommend you to remove it.

How the f-ck making 2-3 phone calls IN ONE and the same DAY, to get interview, JUST ONE DAY, is “relentless”. This is beyond pathetic.

I feel this is the best thing you can do Mr. Scoble (I don’t like calling people by a first name basis).

I may not be a professional in the sense you are, but I do aspire to be a man of business in a few years, and I completely agree that where you were going is not the best route for you — or your readers.

I understand the need to out lash and let it all out sometimes, but I feel that it got a bit out of hand and I commend you for taking responsibility and trying to move on and make things move forward.

I hope the people you lashed out towards do the right thing and forgive you and move on professionally.

I will continue to read and support you, even though you haven’t a clue who I am :) .

    Good luck.

Robert, I have 2 points to make. Go back to Naked Conversations. I think that the point was made that there will always be things like this done. You can’t please everyone. You have to let stuff like this just roll off and not let it effect you. Second, I think in a weird way Jason was trying to be a friend. Sort of in the weird way that a friend will always tell you that you have something in your teeth, when no one else will. I have found that when situations like this occur, the best thing is to leave it alone; like you did, then call the person, or meet him at Demo and go have a beer.

    asssuck @ 36,
What are you, in Junior high school? If you don’t like the show, or this blog, don’t read it. Your wit and intelligence will be missed, but all of us will struggle on.

I remember the first time I really screwed up with something I posted on my blog. Maryam helped me figure out how to fix it and, after I apologized, things worked themselves out quite nicely. It wasn’t easy though.

They always say that to err is human and to forgive is divine. But they always seem to forget about how hard it is to apologize and admit you’re wrong.

So kudos for doing that :-)

I think you enjoy the drama, Scoble.
It is blog excitement and excellent linkbait after all, as Calacanis correctly points out.
