If you haven’t been reading my link blog you’ve been missing some really great blogging. Here’s some highlights.

Ryan Stewart wrote a great post on how and when of Adobe and Microsoft’s Rich Internet Application technologies.
TechCrunch announces Kyte, new video distribution network.
Podcasting News discusses a new report that shows media player owners are listening to less radio.
Coding Horror asks what is our responsibility during the current dotcom bubble?
Lifehacker links to OpenDNS feature that lets you browse the Web with keyboard shortcuts.
Stan Schroeder links to Chris Pirillo who exposes a security issue with Web calendars, particularly Google Calendar. Are you exposing your passwords without thinking about it?
Steve Makofsky says Microsoft’s Silverlight isn’t giving his Mac any love so he’s going to stay away from it.

That’s only a small portion of the cool stuff that I’ve shared on my link blog. Most of which is not available on either Digg or TechMeme.

Oh, and if you only want the headlines, NateTrue put my link blog on Twitter, so you can friend that account and see my link blog items come into your Twitter account.

For the past six months I’ve been reading about 30,000 items a month and sharing somewhere around 1,600 items.

  • I wonder if you could have one post here on Scobleizer, every day, that accumulates all the links on your linkblog? That way everyone who's subscribed to this weblog would automatically be in the loop on the other. Just an idea.
  • I'm not sure this is something you can fix, Robert, but I have a very hard time navigating your link blog. The other day I found a really great post on it and I wanted to go back and re-read it, and I had to dig through seven or so pages to find it. That's my biggest problem with the link blog, and why I kind of don't check it as much as I probably should.
  • Nima: good point. That's one advantage of looking at just the headlines, you can get back to such a post faster.

    Offline RSS News Aggregators like NetNewsWire on the Mac or NewsGator on PC will let you search for things in your feeds. That's another way.
  • Dave: that's an interesting idea. Maybe I'll just try to copy and paste. Or, maybe, put the Twitter Gadget on my blog so you can look at news headlines I've picked.

    Steve Makofsky complaint regarding Silverlight Mac support is that it supports Mac users as consumers but not creators. The SDK/tools run on Windows.

    Microsoft should create a team within MacBU that id dedicated to porting the tools to Mac. From what I've read, the Windows tools are WPF apps, so it wouldn't be a "port" as such, but more an task of creating Mac versions using Carbon/Cocoa, like they already do with Office. The "core" would be a straight port and the UI would use Mac-native api.
  • Robert, I was thinking one of your programmers at Podtech could do it for you so it would be automatic. Both apps, Twitter and Wordpress, are scriptable enough to make it automatable. I do something similar to that to maintain the "Scripting News Annex" in Wordpress, even though my blog isn't written in Wordpress. I wouldn't ask you to copy-paste for me, only if it were easy an automatic.

  • met & Robert, thanks but I'm really happy with Safari as my RSS reader, since I spend so much (errr... too much?) time in Safari anyway. I really should have just bookmarked the post when I saw it.

    I'm a little hesitant to add the link blog as a feed just because it's a little too noisy for me. I'll just have to deal with it, I guess.

    Just to add, I do think it's a great resource Robert, and I definitely appreciate your keeping it up. I actually wish there were link blogs like this dealing with other topics (not just tech news). Maybe I should start one.......
  • Steve's not the only one unimpressed with Silverlight. Mike Harsh linked to some demos that crash both Firefox and Safari on my Mac. The non-WPF* versions run fine.

    @11. John, please provide the links to the demos that make Safari and FF crash. I'll report them to Microsoft (Silverlight is not RTM'ed) (if I can repro).

    Welch was asked to provide the URLs to the Silverlight demos that "crashed" Safari so they could be reported to Microsoft, but didn't bother. Makes me think he was full of it (as usual).
