News tonight for developers

Come back tonight at a little after 9 p.m. Pacific Time tonight.

Some big multi-billion-dollar corporation would like to announce something.

Why?

Developers, developers, developers!

:-)

Like I said, Mix07 is gonna be interesting and, no, I don’t need to be inside the conference to have a front-seat position on the battlefield.

UPDATE: the news is now up.

Just guessing here… With “Developers, developers, developers!” you refer to MS but could it be something from the Google?

Some kind of an online development environment, and/or a new programming language?

You do have the “Developer Tools” tag there. ;)

    We’ll see.

Hmmm … “multi billion dollar company” does narrow it down somewhat, but not quite far enough to put a finger on it! 9:00pm there = midnight here at the other end; guess I’ll wait until tomorrow :(

    Hi,

we are a portuguese group of students and we’re doing a project in human resources management about Google. Since you work (worked) there, we wonder if you could answer a set of 6 quick-aswer questions and maybe 2 or 3 fellow workers of yours too. It won’t take long. If you’re available, our email is renata.carneira@gmail.com.

    Thank You!

    I know a secret! :-)

So VERY cool, too- Being a former developer, I am envious of modern day tools. Where was this stuff 20 years ago?

Probably not from Microsoft, since they’ll probably wait for Mix. Maybe, Google adopts Mono? :D

If it is a *full* .Net runtime, feature complete, on OSX I’d be happy. Not bothered about VS.Net (it is a mess) but .Net would make my week. If they can get Apple to ship it with Leopard then better still.

More realistically have Microsoft decided to actually release some *working* dev tools for WPF on XP? :P

Everything MS put out was supposed to be ground breaking these past 10 years. If anything people have systematically flocked away from their tools in the past few years.

I remember the same type of thing when ASP.net came out. How separating the code from the style was so revolutionary, and how code behind was going to be all the rage.
    What actually ended up happening?
Most people ended up using PHP instead.
This is probably something about MS Atlas or something lame like that.

I just got my Linux Journal in the mail yesterday though, and guess what?
    http://www.linuxjournal.com/

Woops they did it again. CoverPage page too. Atlas will be the new obscure MS technology like aspx was a couple years ago.

Where’s that oragami buzz now Mr.?

    @20
Beer, why do you insist on derailing every thread into your “I hate Microsoft” garbage?

We don’t even know that this has anything to do with Microsoft, and if it does, we don’t know the details. Yet that didn’t stop you from posting yet again, “Microsoft sucks”. Grow up.

Would someone like Mr. Scoble, who parades about anything that is going wrong at MS, announce something positive about them? …He would really suprise me…

    Nick:

I’ve said plenty nice about Microsoft since I left Microsoft too. You must have missed the several nice interviews I’ve done with them. You must have missed that at the Web 2.0 Summit I said Microsoft did the demo of the year http://scobleizer.com/2006/11/10/demo-of-the-year-photosynth/ . You must have missed that I gave the Zune a pretty nice review http://scobleizer.com/2006/10/26/my-thoughts-about-zune-vs-ipod/ considering and praise my Xbox all the time. Not to mention I was in the Wall Street Journal defending Microsoft in December. http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB116490323676636989-HnHPKLzkyy9xKy2wnokbd2bc_bE_20071130.html

Hell, just go back to last week and watch the Electric Rain interview I put up. http://www.podtech.net/scobleshow/technology/1456/editors-choice-electric-rains-standout-presentation-application Or the Thirteen23 demo I put up. http://www.podtech.net/scobleshow/technology/1422/thirteen23-demo-with-scoble-at-sxsw That’s a preview of the kind of stuff you’ll see at Mix. Or a demo of Digipede, .NET grid tech that’s pretty cool. http://www.podtech.net/scobleshow/technology/1429/demo-of-building-a-grid-with-digipede

You also must have missed the TechFest tour I did with Kevin Schofield. http://www.podtech.net/scobleshow/search/Kevin+Schofield or the Interview with Sanaz Ahari of Microsoft’s Live.com team: http://www.podtech.net/scobleshow/technology/1298/meet-microsoft-livecoms-sanaz-ahari
