How is Xbox Marketed?

On Monday I recorded a speech by Jeff Bell, Vice President of Global Marketing at Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business. You know, the Xbox folks. He’s a good speaker, gets a little “salesy” but gives lots of good detail in how they are marketing Xbox.

Oh, and someone whispered in my ear that there will be a new Zune this year. I was told to “think widescreen.” Hmmm.

  • I am sorry but it's all marketing peptalk. What about the fact that even today, after several years of Xbox and Windows Mobile co-existence, one cannot connect over USB a Windows Mobile phone to Xbox to exchange media files, etc!!!! Even though Microsoft appointed manager that sits over both groups: entertainment and mobile/embedded devices!

    I may be a bit biased as fan of Windows Mobile phones, but why not to market Xbox as "gaming console and multimedia hub THAT CONNECT WELL with your Windows Mobile phone!" ????

    Widescreen Zune?, Huh, My 30 gig iPod is getting old and I'll be in the market for a new player later this year.
    I may take a closer look at the Zune.
