It’s interesting how Valleywag can make up all sorts of bulls##t about people and get away with it.
I’m not looking to leave PodTech and have committed to staying there until 2008. I have not interviewed at any company and certainly not Google, Facebook, or USVP. My sponsor, Seagate, has renewed its sponsorship so everyone is happy. And with a new kid on the way I don’t need the stress of starting a new job.
Oh well, suckered into linking to Valleywag with a post that doesn’t have a single word of truth in it (well, it is true that I didn’t graduate from college). Good linkbait! Well played Nick Denton!

A blog spreading incorrect information with no basis in reality whatsoever?
OH
MY
GOD!
That’s SO unheard of in the “blogosphere”.

Isn’t any press good press though?
Coulter is making sure your name stays prominent on the internet and thus pushing up your net worth.

John, you crack me up. One reason to do this? This post has about 10x the view rate on Valleywag than a usual post has. Money. Money. Money.
But, I disagree with you about most bloggers. If I try making something up about someone I’ll have 200 commenters jumping on me in 15 minutes.

Chris: that’s one way to look at it! It’s sort of like being in the gossip magazines. If you’re there, you’re hot. If you’re not, well…

Why are you taking that seriously? You have left a dozen comments there. You should just ignore it and carry on.

Pretty soon G4/TechTV will be carrying your show if you can keep going. Then you’ll have a substantial audience.

Chris: outch! Does anyone watch G4 anymore?

G4 is like the ONLY channel I watch, besides headline news sometimes. The rest of the time I’m at the gym or work or on the PS3.
I almost started to think G4 was on the decline when I saw Tina Wood and Laura Foy on http://www.on10.net. I was like, why would anybody not on CRACK COCAINE leave G4 to go work for Jeff Sandquist???
He must have paid them a lot of money, but they destroyed their careers. They’ll never be as famous or as popular as Kevin Pereira, Olivia Munn, Morgan Webb or Adam Sessler now.
You should check out Leo’s new show on TechTV Canada.

I hate to say it, and I wouldn’t say it to his face, but the only reason people watched Call for help was for Amber MacArthur. His show is so gonna get canceled now.
At any rate Scoble, if you do make it to G4, you will have hit paydirt.

If your show makes it to G4, none of us will ever probably hear from you again though.

Didn’t you mean to say “when I do…..”?

LayZ: oh, right, you’re the bastion of truthfulness. You won’t even tell us who you’re working for, what your position is, or your real name.

#15…Yes you are correct. Too many people with those “pieces of paper” treat them like some sort of entitlement. Education is a start of mind, not a destination.

Scoble, you suck. Leave the internets.
In the words of Michael Scott, You are the worst.

That’s still lazy bullshit. You’re saying “Bloggers don’t have to check facts, because TEH MAGICK OF TEH INTARWEB will make it work”.
that completely ignores the echo chamber of the “Blogosphere” and how people blindly repeat anything an “A-List” blog says without care. Sure, you get it corrected in the comments, but that’s a delta. Then maybe you do a strikethrough, but that’s a delta, and with the preponderance of RSS, it means that people have to re-read that feed. Depending on how often things update, that could be a delta of days.
You insist bloggers are every bit as good as MSM, but then you lead the cry for them to be held to no standards of fact – checking and research whatsoever, because it’s their AUDIENCES job to do that work FOR THEM.
Let’s restate that last part:
You operate on the theory that YOU don’t have a responsibility for fact checking, because it is your readership’s JOB to do that for you.
That’s bullshit, and you know it, even if you’ll never admit it.

I heard you were hired to be a guard at Buckingham Palace, but they withdrew the offer when you wouldn’t stop giggling.

@37 Yea, but I’m not the one calling for accuracy, you are. So, try to stay on point. See comment 40 for a more accurate assessment. Care to rebut Mr. Welch?

I never said bloggers are as good as mainstream press. Please cite. In many cases they are faster. In many cases they ARE more complete. But better? I never said that.
I also never said I don’t have SOME responsibility in all of this. But then I’m not a journalist here on my blog. I’m writing off the top of my head (unless I’m quoting someone).
If you’re a reader here and you aren’t looking at my comments you aren’t a smart reader and I don’t want you here.

Scoble, it’s ok if you never finished college. We love you anyway, and appreciate the times you come and speak. If you want to come back to SJSU, we will let you join our geeky new media club.

That’s what I thought. Bloggers don’t have to be accurate because their readers will do it for them.

Robert, just take it as a compliment that people seem to find it nescessary to make up stuff about you
. And if you find the need to respond to things like this, just leave it at one comment. Well that would be my advice, cant say what I’d do if I were in your shoes !

I must take issue with your attack on Christopher Coulter, Robert. I was told about your alleged humiliation and firing of him by one of your former colleagues at Microsoft. Very colorfully, at that. So, your assumption that Chris is the source of any information about you, true or false, that VW gets, could certainly be wrong.
My understanding is that people were upset that you, the middle-aged tech veteran, treated a youth so harshly. They think it showed a lack of maturity. Perhaps you should be looking at the situation as something you could learn from.

Podesta: I didn’t fire Christopher Coulter. Go back and ask Jeff Sandquist what really happened.
I DID berate Christopher for something and I was wrong to do that.

@48 If you don’t think it’s necessary to tell us what happened why would Sandquist?
@48 If you don’t think it’s necessary to tell us what happened why would Sandquist?
LayZ: because Sandquist is the one who was standing right there in the BlogHaus and knows what happened. Podesta wasn’t. It sounds like Podesta heard a story that got spread mouth-to-mouth sort of like that old game we played in third grade where the first person in line got told something and then it ended up as something totally different by the time the last person heard it.
