  1. Did you do this purposely to make me feel bad, knowing I will be up there on Monday and unable to make this Saturday :-) I’m almost there! just doing the laundry from the last trip and collecting the dogs to move up for the summer! Yay…

Hey Google. I’m doing indexing according to phrases in a primary and secondary manner on our new site about to launch. Please do something about it. PLEASE. Do some Evil. Stop everybody from ever indexing according to phrase rank forever with the USPTO. You guys rule! Google is so much better than Microsoft. SOOOO much better.

  5. I would know if Twitter fixed the AIM interface.

TwitterIM: TwitterIM is under maintenance at the moment. Please check back later.

  7. I just wanna say. The internet is about 8B pages right? Hitachi just came out with a commercial 1TB hard drive. Some of us are on Gigabit adapters and connections.
A time in the near future will come where smaller outfits that would in the past have made a twitter type website will now be able to scale with Google and MSN.
I won’t be able to fit the *entire* internet on a 1U *this time*, even heavily compressed, so I filtered, but next upgrade, who knows, 5TB drives may be out.

The VC advantage that Google has is going to quickly disappear in the next few years, which should leave twitter apps in the dust and clear the way for some *nice* applications. What if we could ALL organize the internet and create applications based on that and not just a few technosnobs in the Valley?

  9. “Twitter Is Dead, Long Live Jaiku!”

What this suggests is that the actual technology is useless to most people and that the only reason to use these sites is to be hip one day and gone the next.

Here’s a really good book on why even Microsoft was not able to clone Google. Anybody can write a few routines in PHP. It didn’t take a brain surgeon to create twitter or myspace. One could even say you could code the whole site and server config in a month or so if you tried :P

Anybody with a couple years of programming in can duplicate any one of these low-talent websites extremely easily. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to use Red5 or Flash media server either to do live video exchange. The API is too easy and even though they may have a good idea, it’s not going to be worth much because the implementation is very basic. It’s been 10 years since Brin and Page published their papers and no one has been able to …. well, you get it. There’s a plateau there between twitter and the kind of stuff it takes to make a true service that people need, and don’t just use to say they’re using it.
