I love Maker Faire. It’s my favorite event of the year. By far.

While there we followed around Thomas Hawk for a little while (Flickr famous photographer, also CEO of Zooomr, a photosharing site) and did a fun video. If you’ve never been to a Maker’s Faire, this is a good way to experience it. They are doing another one in October in Austin, Texas.

I have an interview with the founders coming up on Monday where they talk more about their future plans, too.

By the way, if you download my shows (visit the Web page and click on one of the download links) you get a higher resolution version and one that you can use on other devices like Media Centers, iPods/iPhones, and Apple TVs.

  1. Downloading now.

I’m hoping to go to the one in Austin. In addition to all the general geek fun, there should be plenty of cool photo-ops.

  5. Heheh.

Rocky, I don’t know why you can’t sign out and then sign back in as yourself. We might have to delete a cookie on your machine.

And, no, you’re not allowed to quit. :-)

  7. Jeremiah, thanks. The thing that’s sad is that we only showed you about 2% of Maker Faire. There’s a ton of other videos out there about Maker Faire, though, and I highly recommend subscribing to the Make Magazine blog for more.

  9. It was a very fun photowalk, even though I got separated from the group early on. Maker Faire was just pure fun! But I did spot myself on scoble’s quick pan intro to Thomas.

  11. Hey,

I have a great link for an interview of Dale Dougherty at the SXSW Interactive Festival, filmed in the famous Austin City Limits Studio. Dougherty is the editor of CRAFT and MAKE magazines and founder of Maker Faire. The interview focuses on Dougherty’s views on how building do it yourself (DIY) communities can be similar to building online communities (Blogging). Here is a link to the video from the website of the show Docubloggers on the PBS station KLRU in Austin, Texas. Enjoy!!!!
