Photowalking evolves…
I’m bummed that I missed Thomas Hawk’s Photowalking down in Santa Monica. But we have some improvements to the Photowalking show coming.
First, my producer/editor, Rocky Barbanica, is taking Photowalking to a new level. Translation: it won’t be just me doing it anymore. He’s been following along on the last few Photowalkings and has been looking for improvements since this show is very popular.
Second, we’re moving Photowalking to its own show separate of ScobleShow.
Third, we’re looking for sponsors for Photowalking.
Fourth, we’re going to get more professional photographers involved. That’s why I was meeting with Rick Smolan the other day.
Fifth, we’re looking for a new musical theme. Any musicians out there want to submit a theme?
Sixth, our next Photowalking is August 19th on the USS Hornet in Alameda. We’ll do that one by RSVP only (see next item).
Seventh, we opened a new Photowalking group on Facebook where we’ll organize all this stuff.
More to come soon.

I’m thrilled to hear about the evolution of Photowalking to it’s own show. That is fantastic. That is what really got me hooked on your stuff and Thomas Hawk’s.

im looking forward to seeing how you progress the concept. photowalking seems like a much more interesting use of your time than wasting time on facebook

Hey d2- We’ll make it all that it can be. A lot depends on participation from others. We hope there’ll be many.
Facebook happens to be the Photowalking group home for now until we build a website for it- down the line. I understand your referral above-
Please join us on the group if you haven’t already.

“Third, we’re looking for sponsors for Photowalking.”
Where’s the spec sheet for advertisers?
BTW, I just got back from a week in Germany. It was beautiful there.

I’d like to say something- I am very honored and thrilled that Robert has put his faith in me to take on such a close and sentimental part of his show, having known me only just a short time. I look forward to working WITH you on the project. Thank you, Robert! I’ll do my best! :-) Yeah, sappy - but I mean it!

We in Austria found the idea so good, that we brought it here: I know, we are copycats.

What do you reckon the chances of UK photowalking are? Perhaps it’ll ‘go global’ in time :D

When is photowalking coming to NYC? I’d love to join up for a DUMBO photowalk…

So does this mean we might see a Photowalk in New York as the show grows? Would love to know.

UK, New York, Austria … The world of Photowalking. Too cool! Honestly, I think eventually, if this goes off the way we’d like, there is a chance we can hit all the major cities and maybe even some of the small ones-

Congratulations Robert & Rocky! This sounds like a big big step for photowalking. Looking foreward to 8/19 and beyond! I guess this means I will finally have to cave and join Facebook.

Alameda should be awesome. We had a great time in Santa Monica and I’m really excited about having Rocky involved in the future production of these episodes. They are a great way to get to meet and know other photographers. And a great way to see the world.

Photowalking in New York would be amazing. I last shot there in October 2004 and have been dying to get back. Manhattan is one of the most visually stunning places to shoot in the world. Hopefully someday soon.

I’m glad it’s going to be separate. I’m often looking just for the photowalking segments and have to go through all of the others in my podcasts.
I’m looking forward to the new & improved version.

Rocky, I hope you can hit some of the smaller ones. I wanted to go to Santa Monica but 8 hours was just a bit too long to drive and the longer drive to the Bay area is out of the question. Darn it.
Hopefully y’all will get to Phoenix or want to come up here to see the Grand Canyon and the other 7 National Monuments that surround my smaller city.

I really enjoy the photowalking shows - good to see you continue to improve them.
Personally I’d like to get back to the original photowalking ones when Thomas (or other photographers) would talk a little about how they were appraoching a certain subject, which lens they were using, settings etc. This makes it both fun and a learning experience for those of us @ home watching.

PS: oh and us over the uk need to get our finger out and get some uk based photowalking on the pipe !

it may not be called photowalking but it is something that Flickr groups do well. The London group is well established and I’ve been on some great walks with them. They do the same in New York but I’ve never managed those yet. There’s bound to be more in other places
