First sister of Facebook
Things are progressing well here in the hospital — Milan is sure taking his sweet time getting here. Maryam just got an epidural, so things are great. Enough so to give everyone an update.
Thanks to Rocky for getting my interview up with Randi Zuckerberg. She’s the director of business development at Facebook.
We have a fun chat about Facebook and the fun of being in one of the most famous social software families (her brother, Mark, is CEO of Facebook).

Robert, it’s all your fault. I would never have plunged into Facebook in 2000 - maybe it’s because I’m in my 30s now, just seems like a natural app to use. Anyway, thought of you tonite when I found this illustration: http://www.nowpublic.com/face_hooked

Maryam is in the middle of delivering a baby, and you’re blogging??????
What the ….?
You are lucky she’s not biting your head off. Count yourself blessed.
Good luck with the birth and the beginning of a new life!

Isn’t it great how with one post you can reach countless people and avoid all those phone calls and a zillion people running up to the hospital for news!! :)
Maryam must be a champ to have waited so long for the epideral. Good for her! I hope it starts progressing faster, so you all don’t get totally exhausted.
Robert, maybe you could send Big Brother Patrick to TC40 with a smaller video camera, to gather everybody’s good wishes for posterity.

If I’d been blogging when my wife went into labour with our daughter she’d have removed my testicles with a rusty implement!
Mind you, she did give birth ten minutes after arriving at the hospital, so me blogging would have meant I’d have missed the birth, but… y’know :)

The Privethical Divide
An interesting confrontation of two different perspectives on the very same subject this morning : on the left hand, french buddy Jeremt Fain, who raises his concerns about online privacy; on the right hand, american blogger Robert Scobble, who’ s

I think facebook rocks. I think the notion that they are “open to the users” is significantly curtailed by the fact that even their blog is walled in the garden. I still think the company is amazing. Great video!

Great interview but more importantly congrats on a new edition and an expansion in your most important role (Husband and Father). Tech is great but family is ultimately what it is all about, something when you first hold that precious bundle in your arms I am sure you will agree with. I wish you and your whole family the best Robert with the new baby.

Congratulations Robert, but I kind of hope you aren’t even reading this comment but are instead spending time with your new ball of fun.

Randi: “Basically there are two kinds of media: new media and old media”. What the hell is she on? What other kinds of media is there?
If this is the director of biz dev for Facebook, I predict a rollout of Hello Kitty Facebook in the next 6 months. Film at 11. FTW.

I just posted a picture on my blog of what Randi would have seen out the corner of her eye as she sat at that cafe table on University Avenue in Palo Alto. I think it’s ironic and poignant, but it will only be of interest to those who seek to tear down the walls that are holding user data captive: http://therealmccrea.wordpress.com/2007/09/15/the-walls-are-coming-down/
Go, “Bill of Rights” for users of the social web!

Robert, Congratulations. I too am a new father and need your help. If I can demonstrate that Ipod touch can be used as baby monitor my wife will give me the green light on its purchase. Thought you could pull this off. Looking for updates on the family, love your work. Steve

My iPhone is a LIFE SAVER with my son. Whenever he cries, I can zip on to YouTube and pull up the ‘Lion Sleeps Tonight’ by a dancing hippo and a silly dog cartoon. Talk about a high tech pacifier.

How awesome is Randi?! She’s got to be one of the most likeable people ever. I’ve joined facebook because of her. And now, I even have friends!!
Hilarious.
Congrats to Milan on having been born!!
