The “Android” of Journalism…

Today I learned that I actually work for Valleywag, but don’t get paid.

Hey, Valleywag is the Android of journalism!

For those of you who don’t get that: I do the work, Paul Boutin points out my messes. He Nick Denton keeps the advertising revenues. Sorta like working for Google on an open source cell phone project.

Works just like Android except replace “that loser Scoble” with “developers.” Oh, well, at least with Android they are handing out $10 million in prize money. With Valleywag my friends and coworkers call and email to point out what a loser I am. Hey!

Oh, and Ryan Block at Engadget told me he had his hands on Android.

Damn, double loser! :-)

Wait, so today you can yell back at the *idiot*? :)

Really, though, I don’t think it’s THAT controversial. A lot of people seem unimpressed and your one of the few, on either side, who stated actual reasons other then ‘it’s open source…’ You have to remember how excited everyone’s been about this, it’s tough sometimes to look at it logically.

I don’t think they actually pay Boutin, do they? :-)

Actually, I’d like to point out that you *dont* really do the work. You comment on other people’s work (researchers, entrepreneurs, etc.) just as Valleywag comments on your work.

I saw a bumper sticker yesterday that say “Wag More,” which I smiled at, thinking it was a good sentiment, until I thought of Valleywag.

What this world needs is more people who wag their butts rather than their fingers.

Somebody should start valleyhappybutt or valleyhappyass as a spoof of valleywag site.

Isn’t that somewhat of an honor? You might even expect royalty payments somewhere down the line ;)

Robert, do you think you could call in sick and then post a party shot of yourself in a tutu to Facebook? The kids at Gawker Market Research predict a million pageviews for that one. You’ll get your usual cut. What’s a million times zero?

Heh, sorry man, it’s so hard to be really clear with 140 characters sometimes. I haven’t played with Android yet… what I was trying to say is a bunch of my sources did, and were feeding me information (which appeared on Engadget later). Can’t wait to play around with a real Android phone, tho.

Well, I’ve finally deleted my scoble feed from my reader along with some of the other guerilla blogs. I used to get updates on new technologies, etc. Now it’s a lot of who said what and whining about it. This is what ‘mainstream’ traditional media does not have and I can do without. The king is dead, long live the king…

The whole thing is turning into a flame war and everyone is coming off as elitist. We’re of the opinion that Android is gonna be pivotal. If their project doesn’t set the world on fire, it might at least light one under some asses.

Ryan Block is a Rojas-hand-picked loser who is bragging all the time. Ryan stop bragging and stop putting down Windows Mobile that’s been feeding you for so long, oh key?

And why AOL-owned MAINSTREAM PUBLICATION engadget has become now a forum to advertise private initiatives like mahalo and rcrdlbl ? Many thousands of people at AOL are being fired and engadget good old nepotism continues.

Go Robert, go ! YOU certainly aint a loser.

I hear you, but that’s what makes it all work, right? The Valleywags get to say (and leverage) what they want, just like us. That’s what makes it a blogosphere.

I’ll give you credit for putting yourself out there everyday.

On Comment 4, the bumper sticker says “Wag More, Bark Less”. I say enjoy the conversation, and let ‘em do what they want with it. (Easy for me to say, I’m not under the glaring spotlight like you).
