Big wave surfing back home
Those of you who know I live in Half Moon Bay know that one of the world’s top big-wave surfing spots, Mavericks, is just a few miles from my house. I’m so bummed that I missed these big waves, among the biggest ever seen at Mavericks.

I went out there in the afternoon but it was SO foggy, just south of Pacifica all the way to Santa Cruz. I didn’t actually go to Mavericks (I’m not even sure how to get there!), but I did visit many other beaches along the coast. I did see some incredibly huge waves but my camera couldn’t pick them up. :(

Great footage. Don’t miss Peter Mel’s ride at 1:25 in and Dan Malloy at 2:14. Very sad news from Ghost Trees, however.

Yeah, Ireland’s West coast is shaping up as one of the “must surf” locations for tow in surfers … a fellow countryman from Northern Ireland has just had the ride of his life off Mullaghmore and coincidently has just headed off to Mavericks, right on your back door. There’s an interview and some footage of the waves on my site. Cool site by the way (your’s I mean!). More surf related stuff will have me coming back for more lol
