Did ya notice in the comments?

by on December 23, 2007

People who have a Wordpress.com account get neat little pictures next to their comments here on my blog (thank you Matt Mullenweg!). One advantage? You’re far less likely to end up in the spam bucket (comments with pictures are easy to pick out of the spam stream). It’s a small thing, but it sure made me smile when it turned on. I’m so easily pleased. Now hopefully Matt and team will add on some more features for commenting. I’d hate for Disqus or SezWho users to have all the fun.

  • /me tests to see if this works with Gravatar avatars too. (and if it doesn't, please set it up as such!)
  • Matt Mullenweg is the man.

  • Didja notice how WordPress commenters are having problems with comments being marked as spam unless they are logged in?
It's happening to me- even on my own blog!
  • Whoo hoo! Comment avatars!
  • great idea, Robert! It's a big thing!

Generally wordpress.com is a great service although I wish they could allow ads also for commoners and not only alpha bloggers and that they could offer something like "blogging service for ever" (like: you pay 1000 USD and they host your account even after you pass away)...
  • let's see here... just uploaded one.
  • Brian: you have to upload a photo to your Wordpress.com account.
  • heh ill have to get a petter pic done then :-)
  • It should just work if you're logged into your Wordpress account, right?
  • :)
  • Really? Let me try

Have you made it work for anyone with a Gravatar?
  • I'm not sure if it will show up right away. I just uploaded my avatar to my wordpresss.com account but I'd really like to do this with wordpress on my official hosted site where I installed wordpress myself.
  • Cody
    Pictures like mine xD
Haha, yeah, I'm happy he set that up as well :)
