Facebook disabled my account

If you are trying to contact me on Facebook, please don’t. My account has been “disabled” for breaking Facebook’s Terms of Use. I was running a script that got them to keep me from accessing my account. I’m appealing. I’ll tell you what I was doing as soon as I talk with the developers who built what I was using and as soon as I talk with Facebook’s support (I sent an email in reply to the one below, but haven’t heard back yet).

I run this stuff so you don’t have to. :-)

UPDATE: Rodney Rumford, who runs the FaceReviews Blog about Facebook says that all traces of me have been already removed from Facebook too.

UPDATE2: Tonight I learned about DataPortability.org and signed my name to that effort.

UPDATE3: I was only kicked off for about a day, they added my account back after I made a public stink about it here.

I am working with a company to move my social graph to other places and that isn’t allowable under Facebook’s terms of service. Here’s the email I received:

    I've also been suspended from Facebook (about 2-3 months ago) and can't seem to get back on. I keep getting automated replies that don't make sense. I'm pretty annoyed about it because I have alot of friends on FB who need to be informed about the 3rd annual Animal Action Day at Threeworlds, Gold Coast, on October 3, 2009. I started a group on there called Animal Action Day – Take Action for Animals- about raising awareness, appreciation and respect for all animals. This year funds raised are going to WSPA.     I totally agree Adrian. It sucks big time! And makes no sense. Problem is it's so hard to get through to them. Search their site to find their email and good luck! See you in 10 hours!

    I also emailed disabled@facebook.com. It was the only email I could find and I kept getting automated responses about my email account. Made no sense. What to do from here? Does anyone know??!!

    ps. Maybe it was a sign that I spent too much time on FB!

    Good on you Di. I'm going to friendfinder as well. FB should be ashamed of themselves. It gives you absolutely no faith in doing anything with FB again. In other words, don't put anything on there you don't want to lose. The emails are a killer! Some of those contacts I will not be able to contact any other way!

    Dear Facebook,
    My account was disabled for doing nothing. I saw messages were sent by me but, they were messages to certain websites. To multiple people. This is unfair and I honestly had nothing to do with it. I think my account should be enabled again

    My profile has also been disabled three days ago and I have tried several times to contact them, but I have not received any reply. I think it is bad advertising for them to serve/help their customers like this!

    Once a person has been disabled for violating Terms of Service is there anyway to re-qualify for service after a certain length of time away or paying a minimal fine? I think the “life sentence” for such permanently disabled accounts is unreasonable and unfair.

    Facebook disabled my 450k fan tattoo page which i had from the very beginning. I put so much effort into this fanpage and many people loved it.

    It is so frustrating that FB can destroy someones dream just like that. The complementary website i was planning will be tough to handle now.

    Your situation was a little different than ours. But we also got deleted by FB. Their reason “too many friends with similar characteristics.” Which is absurd.

    Please reconsider to reactive my account again. Please give me one more chance. Why was my account disabled ???..     I have been disabled too. I have make some speak about web 2.0 and recomend many people joint to facebook. I have even appear in some magazines talking about facebook and social networks.
    Now I feel like a stupid. I have been disabled. There is no answer for 10 days. I am not spam. I have some hundred “friends”, students, readers of my blog (I have 40.000 visits, many people ask for friendship and I have tried to answer all of them copying and pasting the same mensage. This is a violation of conditions. Oh sir. What have I to say now in the next web 2.0 conference? I am stupid, facebook make me feel stupid.

    You get baffled! I did. More so when (I think) I have not done any action that may be considered against Facebook TOS.

    I have tried to figure out (and also have asked Facebook via email) about their ‘Statement of Rights and Responsibilities’ but no help. I deserve an explanation at least. Or reason for this ‘discriminatory attitude from a social network. No?

    Can anyone suggest something?

    I am Erik on facebook and i was trying to log in one day and they said my password was locked. guess what , they said that i was reported as being abusive by facebook users. i only talked to my friends. but they didnt take my old account on facebook

    I think the email from disabled@facebook.com are not read by humans and the responses are automated as well. There are lots of variations of the same kinds of responses, but I think they create templates and try to make it seem as if humans are responding. However, there are lots of clues that humans are not involved in the process. It seems that facebook monitors everything about your interaction whenever you visit the site. If they don't like what the detect, they disable the account, usually don't warn the user, take their time responding (days), and arbitrarily seem to either activate the account again or disable it. Sometimes you get no response at all, but others say they received responses like this is the final decision, your account will never be activated again. Here are two emails I received from Facebook due to two incidents that led to automatic disabling of my account for no good reason at all. I think it had something to do with a firefox upgrade, quite possibly a browser add-on as the second email indicates.

    I am very surprised about disabling my facebook account. I only added my real friends and i sent messages to my real friends. I have never abused anyone or behaved anyone badly. Facebook warned me about sending friend requests but they are my real friends and 18.08.2009 my account has been disabled. I wrote e-mails to facebook but they havent returned me yet. 5 days happened from deactivation. I want to log in again in the same e mail adress. Plz help me, i want to return facebook. If they dont reactivate my account again i wont sign up again because i have never done bad action, i dont deserve this deactivation. Plz announce my complain to facebook authorized

    My account was also disabled. They told me I violated their agreement, but I'm just a 52 year old grandma that is only interested in communicating with my family and friends. Everything that I've done is related to that. I can't even imagine what I could have done that would be so bad. The problem is, they can communicate with me, but they've made darn sure that I can't communicate with them to try to find out what is going on and how to fix it. Any suggestions?

    this account is very important for me, i use it for my studies, iand it is the only way that i can hold contact with my friends class, i m directer of most popular moroccain groups in facebbok, I am the director of several important groups and pages of Associations philosophical, religious, and political.

    Please reactivate my account, it is an emergency. =(
