Two years ahead of the New York Times

Nice to see the New York Times writing about Markus Frind and his ugly Web site that’s making him $10 million a year! Of course, readers here knew about Markus way back in 2006. Nice to be ahead of the curve!

Secret there? The Northern Voice conference. I’m really bummed I’m missing that this year.

Markus is one of those people who has just an unbelieveable story, though. It’s nice to see more people hearing about it. I sure wish I was smart enough to get an economic engine like his going.

This is the first time I’ve heard of this guy Robert. How annoying is he?! He’s me trying to make it as an entrepreneur making nice, standards-compliant, websites…. and then you link this!!

    I could SCREAM! :O)

He’s not annoying at all. He’s definitely a different thinker than I’ve ever met, though. Went in his own direction. I think it’s great. I just wish I could do something like it.

Not so hearty with the self accolades, Scoble. Some of us have known about Frind and POF for as long as you.

No way. I don’t buy it. Either Markus is a liar or a fool:

    http://feedblog.org/2008/01/13/markus-frind-founder-of-plenty-of-fish-either-a-liar-or-a-fool/

If you’re making $10M on 10 hours a week and 2-4 servers WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU TELL THE NY TIMES ABOUT IT?

I’d keep my mouth shut and keep raking in the bucks.

I hate web comments that you can only leave one blog so I summarize my thoughts on my blog and post a link on the source blog.

Yikes, Scoble, are you capable of a single post in which you don’t either gloat about being ahead of the curve, or tout some asinine new social networking startup? I like your blog sometimes, but the smarminess level is spiraling out of control!

@ the doubters, there’s an interesting video (wish I had the url rfn) of Guy Kawasaki interviewing Frind and a few others and Frind is most definitely the real deal. As for Chronic Blunt… could be you have a better track record than most? If so, get with the program and shout about it. The Scoble’s have gotten out there and done more than most of us. Lot to be said about that alone. Trying to tear someone down just ’cause they’re passionate is a sure way to pour gas on their fire.

Turns out there are two Kawasaki links:

the other I saw first is here

I learned a long time ago to never disclose how much you make. I always give a low figure to keep the gold diggers away.
