You interview Sun Microsystems CEO about MySQL
I’ll be interviewing Jonathan Schwartz, Sun Microsystems CEO, this morning sometime between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.
I’ll be using Qik on my cell phone instead of a professional camera. Why? Because then you can join in. See, if you are watching my live stream and you leave a comment I see that on my phone WHILE I’m filming. All of this live. So, I can bring you into the conversation in a way that other video systems just can’t do.
So, watch my Twitter account (I’ll send a Twitter message as soon as the Interview starts). There is a possibility it won’t work, though, because I might not be able to get a good cell phone connection at Sun’s headquarters. If that happens I’ll fall back to an audio interview, which, unfortunately won’t be interactive in this way.
What’s on the agenda? Sun’s acquisition of MySQL.
UPDATE: TechMeme has more on this morning’s news and I’ll have an interview up shortly. The Qik one didn’t work out as planned cause the wireless kept having troubles and also because Qik was upgrading its servers right in the middle of our interview.

Find out who they plan to acquire next. I have my suspicions:

So what happened to the feed? It suddenly cut off in the middle of the interview?
(I can’t comment on Qik since i don’t have a login there, yet)

Qik updated their servers in the middle of your upload and that kicked you off.. nice!
Your stuff rocks, though. Very cool.

ask him why his employee, specialized in mobile Java, brutally taken away from me audio recorder when I was recording podcast and stopped interview - just when I mentioned mobile Flash and .NET ?
ask him why Google has ignored JSR and Java standards and used their own type of Java ? (because Sun license fees are very high and Sun is in practice damaging open source, not supporting it)

How do you get people to agree to this interviews? Must be some kind of mind control :)

“The Qik one didn’t work out as planned cause the wireless kept having troubles and also because Qik was upgrading its servers right in the middle of our interview.”
But it doesn’t require you to register, so it’s got that going for it…

How do you find the video on Google? I’ve searched Robert Scoble and Scobleizer and don’t see it?
February 26th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
[...] Scoble’s latest blog entry epitomizes this point. This morning he was going to be at Sun Microsystems and was going to stream the conference using Qik on his cell phone, so if you wanted to leave a comment while he was filming, you could essentially join in on the conversation during a live broadcast. It looks like it was just a loss of network responsiveness; sometimes this happens, and we’re a bit at the mercy of the 3G network. We’ve learned some things about detecting when this happens, though, and the next release will include what I’m calling the “Scoble check” to smooth things out a bit more :)
