    No large company today would be this foresighted -
    there is too much pressure for constant short term profits

    Perhaps Google and Yahoo is showing signs in this direction – but nothing on the level of what was attempted back then

    So many pioneers have come from that original group of Scientists

  3. I’m from an engineering college in the outskirts of an engg college in Mumbai, India. We’re so used to using Xerox for photocopying our notes, assignments and experiments (since we write these manually), that we still call these Xerox machines.

    In the locality that I live in there is even a small bylane called – Xerox Galli (Hindi for bylane).

    That’s how famous Xerox is in India – that we just don’t identify you with anything else other than photocopying :)

  5. How does it feel to invent amazing stuff, yet fail to monetize it (3COM, Apple(Windowing system, mouse), Ethernet, Adobe (postscript, pdf), and about 20 other companies started from stuff invented at PARC). What are they doing to make sure that never happens again?
