Hey Robert - if you wanna know what developers are doing on social platforms, you should get a hold of Widgetbox. Large, vibrant community of widget developers.

Awesome Robert! I loved the rant and have been silently watching without commenting to see how far the theory would go into practice. It's great to know that small events will be getting coverage from big event people. It's always nice to read about tiny stuff from big stuff people who know how to write and cover information effectively.

Good on you.

May I suggest the Irish countryside, West Cork and Kerry in particular, internet cafes are few and far between... but of course that might not prevent you from violating your rehab, turning on your iPhone and getting massive data "roaming" charges...

There are plenty of shiny new and interesting things to talk about, both tech and non tech that are not currently being covered by the Silicon Valley Tech Echo Chamber. How about covering the emerging alternative energy market sector. There a ton of cool companies, many located here in Silicon Valley developing new and cool PV as well as other energy technologies. I'd love to see you visit these companies, interview their founders and technologists and tell us about what they are doing.

Have you ever considered covering other types of news every now and then? Loren Feldman announced that he'd start doing this a few days ago. I know you're known for tech, so you don't want to alienate your audience, but what about covering less rehashed niches? What about architectural technology, biotech, or something like that every now and then? TED has always seemed to do a really good job covering less well known sectors.

Not Facebook related but...

Scoble,

I think you should write about my little side project 'spy' it's the "little Google App Engine app that could" the GAE team is using it internally to monitor the social conversation (http://friendfeed.com/e/e062480e-c1d6-4a8c-a6ec-e73ef87690cb/The-Google-App-Engine-Team-using-spy-on-Flickr/) and they have featured it in the app gallery (http://friendfeed.com/e/fa11d9ab-474e-43d5-91c9-954804ce9e79/Applications-Gallery-Google-App-Engine-Google/).

Really shows the power of cloud computing, take feeds from great sources remix them to your liking, release a application to the world that is powered and delivered in the cloud with nothing but my time invested.

Now can my app take the traffic you'd sent... who knows!
http://spy.appspot.com

It's a new world for the developer...

This made me smile. I'm happy you're exiting the echo chamber, Robert. I'm even happier that you're going to highlight great stories that otherwise would have gone ignored because they aren't "shiny".

Tech blogging is now better because of this.
