Hot photosynth from IFA Berlin
Sorry, this is for Windows users only, but got a really neat Photosynth of a model sitting on top of a Harley Davidson motorcycle inside the Samsung booth at IFA in Berlin. You can use Microsoft’s Photosynth technology to “walk around” the exhibit.
For those of you with Macs, you’ll just have to see the photo of the YouTube camcorder that Samsung introduced there. CrunchGear has the details.
UPDATE: here’s another Photosynth, this time of the main Samsung booth, which was my favorite booth of IFA.

Pfft. Microsoft, hurry up and bring Photosynth (at least the viewer) to us Mac users!

I’d like to know more about the camera with the YouTube logo. I think I saw a twitter from you about it costing 300 Euros?

We are currently preparing for a trade fair. The stand will have our Deomo furniture and a couple of LCD TV:s and Blu-rays from Samsung (really) on display. Maybe I should make a synth of our stand; people would get a detailed view of our products, from several angles. Yeah, I can try it.
Thanks for the tip, Robert.

Microsoft “improved” on Apple’s QuickTime VR technology from like a decade ago. How underwhelming.

T Says, you sound pissed that Photosynth doesn’t run on Macs (yet).
You remind me of an Aesop’s fable about a fox and some grapes he couldn’t get so he declared them to be “sour”.

It seemed a little buggy! Some indicated perspectives was just wrong. But it’s still beautiful. :)

Wait, there is a motorcycle in the picture? :-)

Wheeee, just what the world needs, another shaky cam for the Tube Space Cadets to post up horrible out-of-focus dizzy videos, with bad audio and horrendous mash-ups. If not on a Tiffen or Glide, thou shalt not film.
And already freaking tired of crappy Microsoftified Photosynths, just do some 360 Panorama’s and play with HDR a tad, these synths are crap.
PS - (Being positive about something) - Boy, is that Oakley Red cool, the 5k EPIC is an earthquake.

Referring to the comment above, my first synth of the booth here:

It’s only 23% synthy. I’d guess there are too many gaps between pictures. The overall image quality is not that high: low light, camera… Anyway, it’s a start.
