How can we help you build your business?

by Robert Scoble on August 26, 2009

Yesterday Rackspace launched a cloud app partner portal called Cloud Tools. That’s a really boring way of saying that our partners rock and that we’re trying to help them build their businesses.

Why do that? Because by showing off the cloud tools ecosystem we help developers build their businesses (we are featuring 15 partners at launch). That makes them happy. Happy developers build more stuff, which needs more hosting, and they also tell their friends about how Rackspace is helpful to them.

Lots of people ask me why Rackspace is doing building43 and paying me to fly around the world to interview tech and business innovators. It’s to be helpful to developers and companies building business. I interview everyone, not just Rackspace customers. By helping them build their business, we make them happy. Happy developers build more stuff, which needs more hosting, and they also tell their friends about how Rackspace is helpful to them. Oh, I’m repeating myself.

How can we help you?

  • Giving before receiving has become a new standard to build businesses by. Even in my tiny microcosm of value creation, I realized I have to give to open source communities if I want to eventually attract brilliant web programmers to more selfish projects.
High five to you Robert and Rackspace for pursuing the high road in marketing and business development! How can I help you guys?
  • Need to setup Pairwork Workshop Training Session. Need to teach companies how to use this kind of technology in Handson Workshops. Not just developers but you need to show front line employees how to create content. That is what drives the need for Cloud Computing. User generated content that goes viral requires content and cloud computing. Dont have the conversation or the content why do you need clouding? <-- Cloud +Computing

You are promoting the best of the best in Tech. But unless you can convert the average Joe CEO, and down the functional line how to engage their customers in conversation it will be slow. Therefore you need to do workshops with people engaging in the tools all setup so they are seemless. Creating content engaging in conversation. Remove the barriers. Show how. Educated people will get it. But you have to close the Technology Gap.

So the workshops need to have fabulous digital recording. Think almost like a Studio setting. Nice lighting, nice hardware, which means lots of Gigabytes. Lots of Gigabytes make more engaging content. More engaging content stimulate conversation. Teach people how to get Terabytes of good content and you will grow your business Robert.
  • Just keep Slicehost humming, and you're keeping me happy ("you" being Rackspace, which owns Slicehost).

I heard about this on twitter , and thank you for updating me on this very interesting subject.

One of the great points about cloud tools is it's elasticity.
