Google Reader numbers changed overnight

This morning this comment was left in my last post:

We’ve now posted on the Reader blog with more details about this:

The post mentions that the counts were slightly off until this morning, so keep that in mind when looking at lists that may be using older numbers.

He isn’t kidding. The numbers changed pretty dramatically. I don’t have time to do a new list today, but yesterday’s list isn’t very accurate anymore.

  1. I find that my overall Feedburner subscriber numbers change dramatically on a day to day basis, having seen this I suspect part of that dramatic change is due to Google Reader. They’re basically saying in that post that those subscriber numbers are worthless to feed publishers and of some vague, hand-waving interest to readers. Do readers really care how many other ig users subscribed to a feed? I doubt it?
